Another Excel 2013 oddity

It runs very slowly with delays on arrow keys and typing. In order to work at the same speed as earlier versions one has to TURN OFF the hardware acceleration checkbox! WTF? If they know about this why not have it turned off by default? C'mon MS, get it sorted!

could be you just need to update your drivers.

Same thing in Visual Studio 2010 (I don't know about VS2012/13). [EDIT] I guess it's not exactly the same. I cannot find the link right now, but somewhere I read that in Visual Studio it's not only visual stuff that gets offloaded to the GPU. It also contains an Alcohol meter - it checks your blood alcohol level via a reader in your keytops, and tries to work out what your drunken typing was originally supposed to be. Understandably, this takes considerable processor resources... :laugh:
