Or to sum up nearly all of those points "Lots of parents are a bit shitty at the job".

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

They awarded me one, too. No idea where it came from, but I have to make space for all the badges if they continue to gimme them in that speed.

I don't care if 10 yr. old use an iPhone. I'm more concerned about the 22 yr. old douchebag texting in the car in front of me. That loser is going to get me killed.

10a) they didn't have them when I were a lad and it never did me any harm Seriously though, I think technology everywhere all the time is bad for everyone, but children particularly because that's when you're supposed to be learning what is normal, learning self control and developing a feel for the world, so they'll be much less good at self-regulating usage. I played something like 10 hours of gaming over the weekend though and now I feel 'sufficiently sleep deprived to affect grades' and 'addicted' as well :sigh:

I had one of those yesterday. If I hadn't been so drunk I would have wound down my window and told him how much of an inconsiderate a***hole he was.

Coming back from the school run this morning, I noticed in the on coming traffic that a lot of people appeared to be texting or using phones rather than looking at the road. Okay, they were moving at the standard 0.1 mph, but still.

Actually it's probably the one coming at you from the side that's most likely to do serious damage. But inattention generally results in accidents due to not stopping in time, or going straight on at corners, and that's going to impact people in front of the person not watching.

Not just hand-held. Has no one noticed the increase ADD/ADHD/ABCDEFG/ETC/Autism pretty much coincides with all the teach-your-children-to-read-before-the-can-use-the-toilet books and videos and games and crap? You over-stimulate someone and bad things happen.
