Different culture

Moronity - They don't see that (at least trying to write) proper english on an english site will get them further. But then again, all humans are supposed to learn during their life and so I hope that they will, too. It's not cultural, look at all these poor human beings on Twitter who are shortening and abusing their language (be it english or german or french) to sound 'cool' and tell the world more of what doesn't interest anyone in 140 characters.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

Do you expect the texting generation will text in English? I think not
I consider myself as a part of the texting generation, yet I manage to write more or less complete sentences.

What culture is so impatient so as not to be polite when asking for help. That is a rhetorical question by the way. :-D

This is not exactly what I meant. I wonder why they are all writing URGENNTTTTT and PLLLLZZZZZZZ, instead of "Please help me, this is urgent".

Actually, I wasn't thinking about any culture in particular. It seems the current generation has a sense of entitlement that I did not have when I was growing up. :suss:

One thing I have ( that is somehow related to the "different culture/different strokes" thread below) been wondering : where does the "PLLLZZZ Urgenttttt" actually come from ? Is this something cultural, like an idioms of some sort in another language ? Or a bad translation ?

Morons, mostly.

Could be a cultural thing... Every time I deal with some of our international customers (I won't name anyone), we get interesting English (although, I'm sure they find American English to be odd as well).

These are morons, too - The worst kind of morons since they mostly think that they are the new Steve Jobs. Like the fellow apprentice who has the job to make a C# eLearning and decided to leave object orientation away and present the procedural way (Console apps yelling "Hello World" at you, and stuff like that). When I pointed him towards this lack, and he answered that: - He wanted to keep it easy - Didn't want to use C instead because the Syntax is different ("You have pointers in C") - Object orientation doesn't needs to be understood when learning C# I was hardly able to contain myself - These are future Pros.

On a realistic note, I think it just grew out of escallation. early on someone posted "Urgent Please!" Someone else did "Urgent PLZ" becasue they didn't know how to spell please and so it escalated - with people copying (from memory) otehr people's words, in anotehr language, until it became a meme in its own right.

I blame Hollywood's representation of hackers and their use of leet speak.(Which I probably misspelled.)

Yes, moronity seems to be new culture setting in which doesn't know country/culture boundary !! :sigh: It is getting spread by some half-literate software professional code monkeys who thinks that by typing in all upper case and repeating the last character will show how the question is most important in the world. And the importance which is just perceived in their mind, if available i.e. mind  PS: Moronity when searched on Google, gives meaning out but spell-check is giving error ! Must be written by some morons
Thanks, Milind

You have pointers in C# but they are called references and they a little bit different Well your friend is right who the hell needs to know OOP, it is never used anyway

You can has pointerzz[^] Beside of that, claiming to make an eLearning (or any "Introduction" to C#) without mentioning classes and enumerations seems pointless to me.

"Use the right tool for the right job." Most problems I work on don't require OOP; why should I use a language that demands it? (I do, but why should I?)
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.

<PickyBuggerMode> Sorry to disagree here, but pointers and references are not "a little bit different" - a reference is a very, very different animal from a pointer and has a significantly higher cost-of-use. Pointers are available in C#, but only within
unsafe
code areas. </PickyBuggerMode>Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. --- George Santayana (December 16, 1863 – September 26, 1952) Those who fail to clear history are doomed to explain it. --- OriginalGriff (February 24, 1959 – ∞)
