I'll assume default directories for apache. These were for 1.3. Open the httpd.conf file in the c:\program files\apache group\apache\conf Look for ServerAdmin you@your.address and change it to your email address. Look for the #ServerName new.host.name, remove the # and change it to localhost. Save the file. Open the apache web server menu and select install apache as a service item. Go to the services window and start the apache service.

I tried setting up the gruesome threesome separately and had absolutely no success. Then I found a site that bundles the three together pre-configured. Everything came up and running instantly on an XP Home system. I was amazed. I don't have the link anymore as the project died an ugly death more than a year ago. Lessons learned (having nothing to do with apache/php/mysql): 1. Don't ever take a consulting job for a yoga center 2. Don't ever take a consulting job when the client says "we can't pay you very much" 3. Run as fast as you can when you're all of a sudden sucked into fixing everyone's computers at home because you're all of a sudden considered "an expert". 4. Clearly explain that if you can only pay for 10 hours of work a month, that's what you're going to get. Don't expect a new system in 3 months at that rate! 5. Don't work for women. They can never define anything with any degree of precision, and if they do, they'll change their minds at least 10 times. And I won't even mention "feature creep". Marc Help!
