10-12 years is what you can expect. A neighbour's lab lived about 11 years.

Hello Friends, I have 2 labs, one is just an year old. The other is almost 8 years old. My vet says that an average life of a lab is 9 years, which means he has just an year left(which is very upsetting). I cant believe how animals have a bonding amongst them selves. One of my labs(who(i dont call him "which")) is just an year remains disturbed these days, i sense a difference in his behavior, its like something bad is going to happen. eventually following links i found out that my first lab who was in a bomb detection squad smelled at least 2 kgs of RDX few months back may be has developed some kind of a disease. When i ask my parents they dont tell me and somehow there is no cure. So i asked many of my friends, they say their labs lived for 10-15 years. All of a sudden there is loss in apetite, sense of smell etc etc. He doesnt like the smell of his favourite shampoo, he doesnt like his favourite chicken sausages and biscuits. I asked my Vet he tells me its just temporary illness due to heat. I dont know whats there to hide. However i posted this here because i could come to know from your experiences. Thanks a ton, Rahul

The average lifespan of a Labrador can vary depending upon the country in which you live. For example in the USA it is 10-14 years, in the UK it is 13-15 years. In India this may be less. For all dogs their lifespan can be greatly affected by their environment and whether they are in indoor or outdoor dog. Statistically, the more time a dog is outside during non-temperate weather conditions, ie. when it is quite hot or quite cold, the shorter its lifespan tends to be. So if your dog has spent a lot of time out in extreme heat, regardless of how many bombs it has been in contact with, it may have a seriously reduced lifespan - perhaps as little as 9 years as your vet says.

      - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

Hello Sir, Remember me? i have your quote on my profile. Well yes i do understand, one of my labs was in a bomb detection squad. He averted 4 train mishaps. However it has taken a toll on him. I cant see him like this, but however its fate and may be this is his end. But never the less, i am still happy. The government recognized his efforts and he is treated as an officer. Thanks a ton, Rahul

Two to four weeks, but only if you split the profits with your neighbors and don't smoke while you cook.

He's referring to an illegal meth lab; the solvents involved are volatile and therefore potentially explosive.

According to my calculations, I should be able to retire about 5 years after I die.

Here's a clue: 4 Types of Lab[^] Sorry to hear about your friend, though. Labs are great dogs, and when bred with other dogs, tend to improve the strain. Perhaps the vet is right, and it's just a temperature related thing. I've known labs that made it 15+ years, and not in particularly nice climates. Keep your dog entertained and active, which along with good nutrition and hydration, will keep him/her youthful for a long time!

It's odd that the vet said that. The average life expectancy for the lab is generally 12 to 14 years.

I asked my Vet he tells me its just temporary illness due to heat. I dont know whats there to hide. However i posted this here because i could come to know from your experiences. Thanks a ton, Rahul
