:omg: Terrified Iraqi soldiers have crossed the Kuwait border and tried to surrender to British forces - because they thought the war had already started. The motley band of a dozen troops waved the white flag as British paratroopers tested their weapons during a routine exercise. The stunned Paras from 16 Air Assault Brigade were forced to tell the Iraqis they were not firing at them, and ordered them back to their home country telling them it was too early to surrender. The drama unfolded last Monday as the Para batallion tested mortars and artillery weapons to make sure they were working properly. http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/news/page.cfm?objectid=12715943&method=full&siteid=106694[^] ------------------------------------------ "What happened in that Rhode Island club is shocking. I feel kind of bad that they dont even know what is going on. "We will thrive in the new environment, leaping across space and time, everywhere and nowhere, like air or radiation, redundant, self-replicating, and always evolving." -unspecified individual

What makes me feel bad is their condition. They are just there to slow things down. They are expected to die or surrender. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

I guess I really have mixed feelings here. What is going to happen to them if their leadership finds out. Can political assylum be granted? ""

I don't think US will accept the Iraqi soldiers under their asylum policy. :~ Follow live World Cup Cricket scores here[^]

Pretty sad really. I think it was callous to send them back but there probably are no rules for taking POWs before the action begins. If the Brits and US thought about the situation I'm sure they could arrange to have a mass exodus of Iraq's military without much hassle. Regardz Colin J Davies

Poor sods. That sums up countries like Iraq. It's obvious they're intended as cannon fodder. I hope they find a way to surrender before too many die. Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

That's the way all wars ought to be fought: Having a look at the opponent's weapons and then deciding to surrender. The only problem about that: what if both camps intend to surrender?

Maybe they should have been told how to surrender safely once things do start, give them a way out of this mess. The tigress is here :-D
