Why most people here dislike Facebook?

That's why I will not shake hand with Zuckerberg... X|
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is. (V)

People who get hooked to one fake profile. Isn't that what leads to fake relationships?

I am not questioning amount of usage. I am questioning why people crib about it. A reason please. A valid one.

Because people live out their entire lives online. Dumb. I pretty much said that - guess you missed it.

And none of that is FB's fault. It is content and users.

You sure are defending FaceBook as if you have a lot of stock in it. Just saying. I don't use it at all so therefore I cannot hate it. However, from what I have heard people hate it because it is fake. Fake meaning people have 2000+ "friends." They aren't friends. And people post boring updates. Like twitter, "I'm eating toast." Etc, etc. That's why people hate it. Simple.

Poke. Is that still a thing?

I've never poked anyone! :-)

That is my whole point. What, in everything you mentioned, says FB is bad? It is your choice of making FB friends which bad. You chose the content you see. If you choose crap, you get crap. What is wrong with container holding crap?

Now, before start off, here are few things to make note of: 1. You cannot call it bad just because of content. If that was the case, you should dislike CP as well considering amounts of rants about Q & A here. 2. If you have had a bad experience with random friend request, it is not FB's fault. 3. If you are annoyed with game requests, you should consider choosing FB friends carefully rather than blaming FB. 4. If you think content there is just idiotic, remember it is not just for people like you. Kids to old people use it. There will be everything there. Again you need to choose what you want to see. 5. If you do not like their UI, for few things I am with you.

I detest Facebook for its blatant disregard for privacy, demonstrated repeatedly in the past, and I have no confidence that "this" time they have all the holes plugged. I use it, however, as it is the only means I have to keep in touch with friends in far places. A necessary evil, but I keep my exposure to a decent minimum.

Why do I feel this is internet?

If you are calling it evil just because of your privacy concerns, internet is evil. If anything else, please explain.

I think you answered your own question. Perhaps you are trying to defend it from a programming point of view? All I know is the few times I have gone to a FB page I can't tell what in the world I am looking it. The UI I do hate. It sucks.

Content. Team FB has nothing to do with it.

Agreed. I dislike certain bits. But they are doing amazing job considering majority users use internet for them and pr0n.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me... As with so many "Web apps" (including this one), it just keeps changing for the sake of change -- you never know what the UI will be from one visit to another.
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.
Things never improve or grow without change.

I don't think people who aren't on Facebook actually hate it, they just don't think it's for them.

Exactly. I'm just as "close" to my extended family and friends as I want to be without FB. If I had to choose something about it that I dislike it would be that its too easy (sitting at home in private) to write things to or about someone that you otherwise wouldn't. On the internet this is not unique to FB - but FB is the current poster child.

That sentence makes no sense.

Yeah, because we all know the world will end if some hacker gets your phone number or a nasty chick calls you from finding off of FB. I shudder to think how horrible it must be to click a hang-up button. I mean, places of the world have people starving, but screw that, we have hang-up buttons!
