They can be given relative to the income IIRC, so not just taxes then ;) Although I think you'll have to drive really fast or kill someone: Norwegian law §27[^] Roughly translated: When the fine imposed, it should, in addition to the offense, taken into account of the condemned property and what he by his living conditions can be expected to pay. The fine accrues to the Treasury.
Speeding fines are being increasingly linked to income across Europe. There was a story a year or two ago about some fella in Switzerland I think who was caught going very fast in a very expensive car and was looking at a record breaking fine.

Always wanted this question answering in the UK. We use the national speedway sign on a road because the speed is different for different types of vehicle. So for example. Dual Carriage way is 70MPH for a car...60 MPH for a transit VAN. So I am in a Car... and get camera'd at 69...But a transit VAN is doing 59...We are both technically speeding by as much. (In fact the VAN as a percentage is worse). But he doesn't get a ticket. Does this mean that as a Car driver I am being personally targeted...Isn't this unfair discrimination. Also just to make this really complicated some MPVs actually have a transit chassis, and as such should be doing 60 in this zone. I would love this argument to be brought up in court one day. You can imagine the police officer looking a bit dumbfounded ;)

I remember when they were testing the original speed cameras here in Qld... turns out if you were going 247km/hr or faster, you were out of the frame before the picture had been captured. I also remember seeing a speed camera pic of a guy caught doing 236km/hr and thought "man, if you had just gone that smidge faster!!"
