One of the things I have been thinking is whether Zim lost delibrately to allow their friend Kenya to go to SF.

What if Aus deliberately loses to Kenya? My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers

It's over. Kenya won the match. :omg: Now it's India vs Kenya in the semis. I was hoping to clobber NZ there. :suss:

Just because they come from the same continent doesn't really mean we are 'friends'. <rant> One of the things that irks me the most is after talking to so many indians here (not on CP, but at work) is that most of them are so reluctant to give Kenya any credit for their wins. One of my friendcolleague claims (without any proof ofcourse) that the SL V kenya game was fixed, without even thinking rationally why SL would throw that game (pre Super 6 game). Let me ask you this, if Kenya had lost to Zim (as most of you expected) would the 'thought' that Kenya lost to their 'friends' Zim to keep their (zim's) SF hopes alive have entered your mind?? </rant>

Now either SL or NZ will defeat Aussies in the Semi Finals. For some weird reasons I have a feeling that Aussies will not make it to the final.

Yes, I'm sure. I'm also sure we'll beat the crap out of the Aussies in the final. Or as you say, NZ. I think Kenya has been playing very well this World Cup, considering how new they are into Cricket. Yes, a few things have favoured them, like NZ giving up the match, but it's none of their fault and credit should not be taken away from them. Even when they lose, they lose with dignity, after playing well. And in the past, they have beaten West Indies in the World Cup and India twice in some other series. So the team cannot be dismissed lightly at all. The team has a lot of potential, and the coach Sandip Patil will really have a ball on the Semi Final day. If India wins, his patriotic side will be happy. If Kenya wins, the professional inside him will be happy.

Yes, it'll still be India vs Kenya. Suppose for a moment that Aus loses to Kenya and India loses to NZ. Now, Aus - 20 points Kenya - 18 points India - 16 points NZ - 12 points SL and Zim are out Now, the teams ending up at 2nd and 3rd positions will play each other in the Semis, ie India and Kenya.

Since we lost the smei-finals in 1987 against England I have lost my ability to be sure with India. They did it again in 1996 when they lost to Sri Lanka. People even postponed minor exams during that period hoping that India will reach the finals. This time I am trying not be be too confident with the India team.

But you are right. There is no telling with India. Absolutely anything can happen. :~

One of the things I have been thinking is whether Zim lost delibrately to allow their friend Kenya to go to SF. Kenya and Zimbabwe are no friends! </rant>

I said the same thing about Ind-SL game too. I don't mean to take away the credit from Kenyans. The way SL's top batsmen got out (in both the matches), it was very suspicious. If I remember correctly, they were one of the favorites. It is sad that we are thinking like that! Kavitha
