As a non american not in america I'm continually being bombarded my messages of anti - americanism. The deliverers of these messages are generally stupid people who can't hold a decent arguement let alone throw a good punch. However they exist, and the more trash they spout, unfortunately the more idiots follow them. True the USA has problems, but not as many as these jealous idiots purport. And blaming everything always on the US doesn't solve anything. Anyhow back to my Subject Line "What's wrong with the USA." asfar as I'm concerned its obesity. Regardz Colin J Davies

My opinion (obviously): Since Vietnam the US has been much more polarized between the conservative view and liberal view. This has caused a swaying of our policies that others have a great problem in understanding. Add to this that in reality we are not all that different and we all would rather say any problems we have must be someone else’s fault. So the US is an easy target, which due to the above is not totally untrue but usually over emphasized. For example of not that different: I have read some about Bush and Chirac over the past week. What I find is the problem those two have is how much alike they are. Looking at the same problem with different view points, jumping on they know what is best no matter what anyone else in the world thinks and then sticking to it no matter what. If either or both would just consider the other side for awhile I think a compromise is easy. (Please do not start a flame war over this. Just an example.) For an example of swaying polices just look at how Bush and Clinton have differed on policy. Clinton throwing over cruise missiles and usually hitting aspirin factories or empty mud huts vs Bush being more selective but using semi permanent ground troops to do it. I wish diplomacy was more open. From my perception if the world would be more proactive in offering alternatives vs reactive we could likely find different options and get along with each other. Maybe this does happen but I never hear of it. But again that is human nature. Look here at CP, we usually just enjoy flaming each other. :rose: ""

I'm not sure I'm well informed enough to answer that, being only 23 and British, my knowledge of US politics is stictly to do with recent (past few years) global events. Of the ones in my life span (not including Carter, as I was 2 when he left office), I'd say Clinton. Simply because he's not Bush snr or Reagan.

Out of curiousity, since you dislike Bush, who is your favorite ex-POTUS in recent history? Let's say since Eisenhower. Mike Mullikin

McDonalds and the most important the US government wanting to make war disrespecting ONU. This I don't agree, war should be avoided at all costs and only be used as last resort . IMHO, it's a shame this kind of thought by the US government and by the Bristish government. The sad thing is that our Portuguese Prime-Minister is on this war bandwagon too, not that isn't a suprise since his political party a decade ago selled weapons to Iraq ... what ironic ...
