Well I know things have to change, it's the way Win8 divorced itself from previous versions, there was no gradual change as there was 98-2000-XP-Vista(?)-XP-Win7 all those versions came with enough commonality after about an hour you could use them. Win8 WTF?, unlike previous versions you looked for Z in the old place, find Z some where else. Z was dead baby!

      For that, I sincerely apologise.

ok we get it, you don't think the next version of windows will be called 9, however until they release the actual name than we will call it 9 so everyone else realises what we are talking about

We don't have SkyNet yet either; so what?

I don't even know why they are called that. They never used to be named after the NT version number.

you seem to care a lot about what they are calling the next version and what everyone else is calling it. Prior to the release of 8 people were calling it 8 despite the fact it hadn't been officially named and did that change the world? really if that is the only thing you have to worry about then just be thankful and stop trying to wind us up. I cannot understand why someone with the experience you claim to have would give a fig what they call the next version

Well, even "Windows 7" tells me it's really "Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]" . It's just a frickin' name; it just doesn't matter.

Heh, I never noticed that before. That's pretty weird, it was definitely marketed as a full version number not 'Vista.1' (Win 6 is Vista), and I'm pretty sure there were fairly major back end changes that justify 7 getting a proper version number bump.

No, it wasn't. The pre 95 versions of Windows were a graphics shell which ran on top of DOS - it was DOS with a pretty face and memory management. 95 was different - and better - because it wasn't DOS based.

If you know what you are doing in Windows 8, you can do things that you didn't even know where possible, so go to Microsoft Virtual Academy and learn about Windows 8, instead of talking out your ass.
