Both Look and Feel and policy. There is just so much rubbish in there. I would like to just go in there with the big delete button.

Because.. 1) Even homework questions are getting answered. 2) It happens sometime that OP posted off topic post and we suggest the right forum using comment. In that case, OP can delete the question and post it over the right forum. But what happens is, some members (believe me, being a part of rep hunting clearly) posts something as a solution and hence even if OP wants, he/she can't delete that question. And if OP is a newbie, the solution will get accepted which is totally misleading as per as QA is concerned. 3) There are some members who copies the title of the post, paste it in Google and post first N links as answer. And thats their only pattern. IMO, it won't add much value to CP just because it can't be the case all the time that OP failed to search it using one of the search engines. There are thousands of views regarding this, but the ultimate solution can be achieved only through some strict actions.

You still using Mention dot com? I dropped it as it was giving too many false positives (even with a relatively uncommon name like mine). How are you doing sir? :-D

You looking for sympathy? You'll find it in the dictionary, between sympathomimetic and sympatric (Page 1788, if it helps)

Workspaces and TV. Don't think either of them made any money, and they pulled resources away from the main site. Just my guess though.

Increased mobile development presence = a move away from MS centric thinking (that will take time, certainly) I don't think workspaces or TV were a bad idea but I think they would be better marketed under a completely different banner. If I had been starting a new project at home, I would have used workspaces, but that didn't eventuate (I guess I should be glad I didn't, now!) Same with TV - I was thinking about enhancing my Android articles with some video, and where better to host it? On the API front- why? What functionality to you want to provide the CP itself doesn't (or is it that you could do it better?) The thing with an API is, how are CP going to make money out of it? I'd love to write an app that posts 'codez pleaz' to Q&A - but I'm not sure Chris et al would like that! An offline article editor would be good - but I don't find the existing online one too bad. Image editing online? Why? Everyone has access to better tools to edit images than would be provided online, surely? I'd like to see a regular CP Crossword (Hey! Chris! You reading this? Remember about three years ago you said you'd get back to me :)) with prizes, and a guarantee that DD wont write the clues. I love the idea of the article competitions - I'd like to see that continue. Something in Q&A - I don't know what, but I just pretty much keep away these days - between the crappy questions and the snarky answers it's an unpleasant place to be! Mobile - get the site working on mobile so I can respond to posts on the train.

Well, to be different, some of the clues might need people to write code in order to get the answer? Just a suggestion.

The problem I see with that is that even abstracted, it would have to lead back to your actual profile (for verification if nothing else) - which means that a pottenial employer not only gets a handy link to all your messages, but gets to see that you (and indeed I) am a Master Debator... :-O

Those who currently have delete priviliges could easily go wild and just keep clearing out dross. I don't think simply closing the questions is sufficient either. There needs to be a mechanism where the originator learns why the questions have been closed etc. Perhaps an imporved entry form with more descriptive section headers; e.g. Title: provide a brief summary of the problem Tags: tag the relevant language / technologies / platform you are using e.g. c# Windows SQL Question or Problem: What is it you are trying to achieve, what have you tried so far. Include any relevant code snippet and and error messages that you may have recevied. The character count box characters remaining rather than counting up. Also still not convinced on the layout of the qs and solutions / comments etc. just doesn't feel right.

We've done that before, but it's frowned upon to a certain extent because some of the question posters can't see it as a solution - just an insult.

So with the sad demise of Workspaces and TV the question must be, "What next for CP?". What would you like to see added or investigated? A public API has been mentioned quite a few times over the last few years, so apart from that. For me: API - but I won't mention that A slicker article editor with basic image editing features. Q&A remodel ???

I think that the site needs to be more interactive and responsive to the needs of the primary stakeholders while delivering a forward-looking design. Is it in The Cloud yet? And why does it not look right on my 10-year-old phone? Can you make it work like Facebook? Have you upgraded to HTML 5 yet? Don't you need that for The Cloud? My friend's nephew said he could do this in a day with WordPress, he's only 13, why are you saying it will take months? This is all digital, right? Is it in high-def? [I just thought I'd throw out the same kind of nonsense I've gotten in the past.]

I agree. I want to completely revamp it. One thing (not related to layout) that I was thinking about was giving users - almost all users - the ability to - retag easily - edit more easily (inline probably) - Mark as "Needs some lovin'". The final one is the important one and it would not be a close button, it would be a "flag me" button that hides this question from casual users but makes it available (and clearly marked) to those who have the status to edit them, and to those who otherwise haven't chosen to hide flagged questions. We clear out the debris quickly for the casual user / grumpy old developers and we have a dedicated queue of questions that either get cleaned up and posted or get formally kicked off the island.

                                        cheers Chris Maunder

I notice that you have changed the TAG to look like a tag. Couple of comments about that; 1) I feel the colour of the no hover tag being white with the grey border just looks too dull, I would think that a very pale version of the 'hover' colour would bring more emphasis without distracting the user. 2) The "See More:" isn't required (in my opinion). All most all sites that use tags have clickable tags and users who use this site should have the underpinning knowledge to think at least to hover over with a mouse to see if they are clickable or natually would try and click them anyway if they were looking for other related stuff. Given they would have slightly more emphasis if #1 was done, the hover effect is sufficient feedback.
