Some friends have just spent two weeks in their static caravan in Tenby (a sea-side town in Wales) and they came round tonight to catch up. All good fun until...it turns out he dropped his phone in the sea while loading the boat, can I get his pictures back for him? Well, I'll try - where's the phone? At the bottom of Tenby harbour.

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Ahh Tenby. Fond memories indeed. Me and the boys used to nick tourist's cameras around there, take a moonie photo, and put it back. Happy days

Yes, unless you go the trouble of finding out how to make it stop, apple copies all your personal stuff to its servers, for sale to the NSA and any lower bidders (not yet proven). Savvy, intelligent users switch it off as quickly as possible.

Well, I was just suggesting to the OP that he might suggest to his friend to log onto his iCloud to see if the NSA Apple made a backup of his pix :) I got an iPod 5th Gen for XMas last year...been taking pix...dunno if they got synced to iCloud, I haven't disabled anything...never logged into iCloud to check :omg: ...don't think anyone cares about pix of my cat or the birdies in the back yard though :-\

Low those many years ago people could not understand why I could not upgrade their $5K computer to run windows. I have shown one of my friends copy and paste 3 times and he will ask again and again say that it is brand new to him. He has a masters degree from an accredited university. I think I'm going to start telling people I am a file clerk.

                      Tell him to phone NSA.

I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.

Best I had was when someone asked me in all seriousness "You're a computer programmer Bob, do you think you can fix my toaster?". errrr would that be running the .NET framework then?

It could be done! Use location services to determine when you've entered a "tourist trap". And if we can remove red-eye, I'm sure an OS-level "nipple notification" wouldn't be too hard to add to the photo app!

Is it too late to volunteer for the job of app testing monitor?

Some friends have just spent two weeks in their static caravan in Tenby (a sea-side town in Wales) and they came round tonight to catch up. All good fun until...it turns out he dropped his phone in the sea while loading the boat, can I get his pictures back for him? Well, I'll try - where's the phone? At the bottom of Tenby harbour.

One of my friends knows someone who can't remember how to load Word from one day to the next, and had to call him every day until he finally hit on making a large JPEG which was a list of instructions of what to do, and making that the screen background on the guy's computer. I pointed out that it wouldn't have taken much more time to set the guy's feet into a block of concrete and dump him into the ocean... after all, it's not as though anyone would miss him... but apparently, that sort of comment was uncalled-for, and don't I have any empathy? Hmmm... apparently not...
