Actually, it requires another $20,000,000 to be spent. A military plane itself is useless to the economy (ie. doesn't produce anything), building one, however is great. Sending troops overseas does hurt though. 250,000 people are not spending money at home, not to mention the increase in pay due to active duty. One of my friends in the military is ordering stuff on eBay and having it sent to his house for when he gets back. He's definitely an eBay addict.

It's funny. There's still so many people in the world that think Bush is specifically out to kill the Iraqi people. It's the people that hate Bush and the US to begin with I guess. No matter how loud the US shouts that it's about the regime of Saddam, they still won't hear. They slap their hands over their ears and go "Lalalalalala! It's all about oil! lalalalalala! Bush wants to kill innocent people. lalalalalala! I can't hear you!" I suppose it sucks to admit you're wrong. It's better to look stupid than to be wrong for some people.

Paul Selormey wrote: die just because a strong nation is happily raining bullets on them You're still operating under this false assumption that the US is haphazardly going to rain bullets randomly down on innocent people. I don't know where you get this notion but it's as stupid as it is false. Even if they had absolutely no regard for human life, which they do, it's still stupid to do this because weapons cost money. They will select targets carefully and the only way civilians will get killed is if Saddam himself puts them in harms way on purpose, which he has been known to do in the past. That does not make it the US's fault then. Anyone who says so is simply speaking out of blind hatred of the US. If you feel so strongly about it, why don't you go down there and serve as a human sheild yourself? I'm sure Saddam would be grateful for the help. Then once the US gives up and turns back, he can go back to his regime of systematic torture and dehumanization of these Iraqi civilians you claim to love so much.

It seems to me that English must be your second language. Perhaps that's why you don't seem to understand what I'm saying. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if that's the case. Either way, I won't respond to anything else you say on these matters. You're still accusing me of enjoying the killing of innocent people, though I've stated over and over through this thread that I'm absolutely against that. I can only conclude that your grasp of the English language is somewhat flawed. I'm having trouble believing that anyone could possibly be that dense on their own. Another option is that you're just trying to tick me off on purpose. You claim to be a Christian though, so why would you do that? That leaves us with three theories then. 1. You don't understand English well, and your misrepresentation of what I'm saying is an innocent mistake. 2. You're trying to tick me off on purpose, just for the sake of fighting about something. 3. You're ignorant and you just charge through a conversation like a bull in a china shop, deciding what the other person's point of view is before you start and arrogantly trampling over everything else. I'm hoping for option 1, since you claim to be a Christian. You must be careful that you don't accuse someone falsely, as you have done with me. You must be wise, and listen more than you speak(James 1:19). If you're as effective at converting people to Christ as you are at arguing politics I'm pretty sure the Jesus I know would not be pleased. You haven't won anyone over around here, that's for sure. You make a fool of yourself, and bring shame to the Name you profess if you don't honestly listen to people before you speak. Yes Jesus Christ is love, but that doesn't mean any old Joe who calls himself a Christian really is one(1 John 2:3-6). Be careful what you say, because you'll have to give account of every idle word that comes out of your mouth(and keyboard).

It seems you do not wish to discuss the issue involved here. If you read and understood my english, I do not see why you make yours an issue. On Christianity, Yeah! I might have said little if President Bush does not claim to be one. Kevnar wrote: Yes Jesus Christ is love If you do agree that Jesus is love, show it to the Iraqi people. Remember since you know you will be held accountable for any life lost. Also, many may not have the chance to read and quote the Bible, like you, before returning to dust after today. Is it wrong to stand by and do nothing while innocent people are tortured and killed? Yes or No? It's a simple question. Is it wrong to let a dictator ravage and dehumanize his people, to just stand by and watch? Is it wrong to simply watch and do nothing? Yes or no? Answer the question. Don't change the subject. Don't dodge into rhetoric. Just answer the question. If you claim to be a moral person, on the side of the Iraqis, answer this simple question. So far you have done nothing but defend the torturer, stand on the side of the tyrant Saddam Husein. The stated purpose of the US is to bring down the Iraqi Regime, and you're against that. I can only conclude that you want the Iraqis to continue in the bonds of torture and humiliation under Saddam Hussein. It's simple and logical, but all you can do is twist it around, trying to make the US seem like the bad guy. This is my last reply to you. You will not hear from me again. Jesus warned us not to cast our pearls before swine, and I've indulged your ignorant blathering far too long already. You have already proven yourself a fool. I needn't say anymore. Take care and best of luck.

I've been reading your discussion and I just need to write my 3c opinion: Kevnar wrote: Is it wrong to stand by and do nothing while innocent people are tortured and killed? Yes or No? It's a simple question. Sure, its not right! The point of the story is, that if you have a look at the history of the US and the way they got involved into wars, then you quickly find out that there is not a single instance where the motivation of the US is entirely based on the idea to help the innocent. What I'm trying to say here is that obviously the US have some different motivations to go for this expensive war. I don't believe that the US is really interested in making the world a better place. There is no n billion dollar invasion planned for the countries in africa, where you really get to see some people killed and tortured. US doesn't care for this one. Chechania has asked the world for help cause of the really (and I mean really) horrible things that are going on there. US won't go there. No profit on this one. Ok, this might all sound like another person being pi**ed of about the US. And its true. Not that I think Irak should be left as it is, but what freaks me out is the motivation of the US to "free the tortured and innocent people", which is a three letter word: OIL. Thanks for ready. As mentioned before, just my 3c opinion. And yes, english is not my first language.
