I asked the missus: "How about tonight then?", but she not so politely replied that I go and fork myself!  Cheers!

I was pretty set on publishing my (so slow) developing Menu and Ribbon hybrid class (aptly named MenuRibbon) for WPF on CodePlex! Tonight I tried to create the repo on CodePlex and it kept telling me that HG was not recommended, did I want to try Git per chance? Unfortunately TortoiseGit doesn't work (out of the box)! So I was googling for a git client, downloaded "GitHub for Windows" a couple of click later, behold, my MenuRibbon is on GitHub! :omg: https://github.com/superlloyd/MenuRibbon/[^] Geez, that was too eazy! :-D Go on, fork like crazy like I know you want to do!

Hmm. I have no problems with TortoiseGit however I use that mostly on GitHub.

Works for me. http://guganeshan.com/blog/setting-up-git-and-tortoisegit-with-bitbucket-step-by-step.html[^] insert github for bitbucket, I'm sure. We moved to this, at work, so I have no choice but I am liking it...more than SVN.

We've been using Git at work for a few years, and I have only used the commandline tools. In July I put a project[^] on GitHub and discovered GitHub for Windows. Yeah! I really like it. It's simple, takes care of most tasks. I've only had to drop back to the console once to take care of some conflicts when merging a branch. The integrated support into Visual Studio 2013 is nice as well.

We use Source Tree at work-related better than the default client. Also makes dropping on to the command line easy.

I'm impressed. I've never been able to get that pile of crap to work. Every year, during a moment where get in touch with my past life as a self-flagellating monk, I try it, and very year, it doesn't work. Quite frankly, I think the last time, I couldn't even figure out how to get past the first screen to open an existing project, the UI sucks that bad. Use use an older version of SmartGit/Hg[^] (why bother updating what works), and free for non-commercial use. Marc

It certainly will be good to put some screenshot and blah blah blah.... But this is like a v0.4, the whole keyboard handling is horrible at the moment, trying to fix that! I guess after that perhaps I should take some screen shot, learn how to make a fancy start page and write a nicer description! Well if I want to create the expected community frenzy that I was hoping for, of course! :D

For me, the best Git client I've ever used was definitively SmartGit[^]. The only problem is that it requires a commercial licence; but it was so worth the company I was working for bought it for everyone. No more merge conflict surprises and crappy GUIs :)
