    Some over-paid hack wrote:

The Proctors have a £1.5million thatched home in Dorset and a luxury central London address for the weekdays they spend working. They have three grown-up children, enjoy a succession of exotic holidays and ferry themselves around by Porsche, Jeep, and even a powerboat.

What?! How dare these people get rich through hard work! Don't they know that only benefit-cheating immigants[^] are supposed to get rich, so that lazy journalists have something to complain about?

"in full view of children" Yea like they've never seen those particular combinations of letters before. Also, that's all they are: particular combinations of letters.

It appears the Wail Online only puts up crap that's calculated to get a reaction. What does amaze me is that it is so popular, probably something to do with appealing to the lowest common denominator IQ.

What amazes me more is the people who read it, some of them ARE intelligent. I suppose a paper is a habit thing. It's takes awhile to get use to another paper. You miss certain coloumnists etc.

I used to always read the Enid Stannit and I never really noticed how it slid down hill. Now that I only see it occasionally, it is visibly kack. I wonder if it's related to the Wail? :innocent:

I'm amazed at just how far they will go to find something to be offended by. I don't imagine many people who would be offended by these items actually receive one. I'm sure most of the market is for lads sending to their mates, not their aunties. DS

But surely it is only the polite thing to do to respect other peoples sensibilities? Or do you swear in front of children and is it OK if they swear too? What if they tell their teacher they didn't do their homework because they were "fucked"? should the teacher just chastise them for not doign homework but for using inappropriate language?

You do have a good point here. There is indeed some risk that very young children may see these words in the same light-hearted context their parents do, and assume they can use them anywhere as a joke as well.

One of the most stupid arguments around! All drugs should be legal and able to be consumed by anyone of any age because everyone has the right not to obtain the drugs? So a flasher should be allowed to whip it out in public because young ladies can just avert their eyes? What about a nudist? Should he be allowed to wander around naked at will? In a school for example? OK if the local supermarket sells hard core porn next to the chocolate at the checkout? It's fine- you don't have to buy if you don't want to - and you can always shop elsewhere. It's about the generally accepted community expectations. I personally don't like hearing people swear except where swearing is appropriate (e.g. you just hit your thumb with a hammer or you are telling a joke where the swearing is appropriate to the joke or emphasis. e.g. the opening lines of Four Weddings is simply the word 'Fuck' repeated many times - and is contextually sensible (and funny). But I know people who were offended even at that. So, when I am in a group of people who may find swearing offensive I don't swear (much!) because, and here's the thing, I'm a decent, caring individual with no desire to offend people. I've had to deal with teenagers whose parents swear; here's a typical conversation between two such teens "Fuckin' last fuckin' night the cunt was fucking down here fuckin doing olllies on fuckin' Ed's fucking board!" "fuckin' right!" not the sort of conversation you want four or five year olds to hear, really? So - appropriate language at appropriate times. And Fuck etc. is not appropriate in a newsagent or gift shop. would you buy a card, go up to the counter and say "How fucking much is this cunt, then?" I know that it's just noises, and logically taking offense at a word is ludicrous when it is not said against anyone (e.g. fuck off) but there we have it - offense at nudity is also stupid, for that matter why do we eat in public and poo in private? but we do and we should all try to remember one another's sensibilities. Merry fucking christmas :-D

It's a marketing gag, which means it can be both.
