That basically is 7DFx16 which basically means seventh dark Friday which basically means that the end is near which basically means that HL 3 is confirmed which basically means that ELVIS LIVES which basically means that we are geeks

So HL3 is confirmed that means Tool release a new album. It's going to be an awesome year.

As I was driving home last night I was following a car with a number plate along the lines of AB11CDE. I realised that I was reading the plate as AB2CDE. It did occur to me that given the job I do I should have read it as AB3CDE.

Did it have a bumper sticker "My other car's an Aston Martin" perchance?

          Not in Hex, it isn't: 0010 0000 0001 0101

Not one mention, that I can find, of 2015 is the palindromic binary of 11111011111.

Given that there are only two symbols available in binary it inevitably has the highest proportion of palindromes to numbers of any system. I imagine the lack of fanfare reflects this simple fact that it really is no big deal especially given the entirely arbitrary numbering of years in the first place. Now if it also coded a Turing machine that gives the date of the Second Coming or encoded "See, I do exist!" then there might be a reason for us to be ashamed to have missed it!

Actually AB11CDE hex is 179,379,422 decimal, which is awfully long for a license plate number (so its good they used hex).

That is so stupid in so many ways ... and yet it got an upvote? That's not hex, it's BCD, which is totally different. And of course if the decimal isn't a palindrome then neither is the BCD. The hex, 7df, isn't a palindrome either, but that's completely irrelevant ... much like, if I say that your mother's name means "whore" in Turkish, you counter that it doesn't mean "whore" in Chinese. Shame is an understatement for what you should be feeling for this idiocy.

"a Turing machine that gives the date of the Second Coming" And we would know that's what it encoded how, exactly? FWIW, according the Bible (a work of allegorical fiction, not history), Jesus told his followers that he would return in their lifetimes. People scoff at crackpots like Harold Camping, but all of religion is like that.

If you meant hexadecimal why didn't you prefix it with 0x like you did in the last one. Anyway, you should stop trying to "fix it". It was disappointing initially but now is becoming sad.

Um...what? Who said anything about letters? Your example wasn't hex because it was a sequence of decimal digits in binary form, having nothing whatsoever to do with hex. On the plus side, it is confirmed that we are truly geeks after all, since we're getting militantly pedantic over a bit of silliness. Silliness must make sense, damn it.

That is so stupidly irrelevant here ... just what I expect of you.

Two months? Two whole months it took you to come up with that? :sigh: When you want to insult people, you have to work on a couple of things: a meme or theme for other insults; or something that will really hurt the victim; and most importantly: timing. A couple of hours you can get away with - particularly on an international forum where people might be asleep - but two days is too long, two weeks is stupid, and two months means they don't remember the conversation at all, or indeed who you even are... And trying to insult someone by using "irrelevancy" in the Lounge, where 99% of all posted material is wholly irrelevant anyway? Oh dear...that's never going to work. So start again, try to be a bit quicker; maybe work in a physical defect related comment; work with existing memes (for Nagy or MM that would be alcohol consumption, for me most relate to supposed bestiality - but try to avoid any racial or sexual slurs, they don't go down well); try to work in a topical cultural or a literary reference. Give it a go, and with practice you might be able to insult someone properly!

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...
