Silly question, if Iraq is disarmed why are they firing Scuds?

Just a question for the French members here ;). If SH was disarmed in '98 and was forbidden to have missles, how come he keeps shooting things he doesn't have into Kuwait? Maybe it was a big slingshot they rigged up quick like a bunny ..... Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?
they aren't firing Scuds. refresh your browser. i take that back. i just heard the military has said that they were "medium-range" missiles. which probably makes them Scuds. -c

Are these missiles Scud or Al-Samud-2? I would wait for several days to have a more reliable answer, I don't trust the media on the Opening Day. Scuds are these missiles derived from the German V2 of 1944, right?

Depends on the source CNN says no scuds, Reuters and Fox say Scuds. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=focusIraqNews&storyID=2418331[^] The limit is like 95 miles in range. Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

I'm more interested in why nobody is helping the Iraqi's, a fellow UN member, defend themselves from the imperialist dogs who are so wrongly attacking them. I guess it's just easier to say " no. don't do it. hey. Stop it." without any real action, so later you can point fingers and say you "tried". BW "We get general information and specific information, but none of the specific information talks about time, place or methods or means..." - Tom Ridge - US Secretary of Homeland Security

Be patient, wait for a reliable info first. I don't think it's a good strategy to believe news networks when the country wages a war

I have no doubt that the info is sketchy at best, I just wanna know how a group of people that was supposedly disarming for 12 years can shoot a missle into another country (still). Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

My point is that if the UN takes itself seriously, and the majority of the Security Council seriously objects to US invasion of Iraq, then why are they sitting around with their collective thumbs up their asses? My God, stand up for your precious UN, men! Deny the evil Americans! Put some muscle behind your words! I'm sure there are some economic measure they could take as well.
