    I have the attention span of a flea so I start a project get it just working and before getting it to a pro level I go on to the next thinking yeah I'll go back and finish it later. So I do get back to and some I don't but either way I've got a bunch that are in a half baked stage.

    New version: WinHeist Version 2.1.0 My goal in life is to have a psychiatric disorder named after me. I'm currently unsupervised, I know it freaks me out too but the possibilities are endless.

    That's just normal isn't it? I've got so many half-cut things lying around, although as I'm getting older I have a bit more resolve to see things through to conclusion. Not in this case, obviously...

      Agreed as I'm getting older I tend to stay focused a little longer, although my son calls it's a power snooze. :)

        I've had a game I was writing for Windows 8 parked on my hard disc for almost 2 years now. It's about 80-90% complete (those familiar with the Parato Principle know what that means) and I think I'm coming to terms with the fact it may never get out into the wild. Alas, most of my waking hours are consumed with development which does important stuff like keeping a roof over my family's heads and simply do not have time to finish it off. It's a tower defence type game with a politically incorrect edge, the concept being that you are a host of posh society dinners which get gate-crashed by an obtuse rabble, so you have to build your defences to stop them. It's all pretty straight forward C#. I've uploaded a video of me playing (and losing) my favourite level here: http://youtu.be/I4FU6KU-Hqk[^], it's a lot more fluid than the video purveys. So, what to do? If anyone from this fine community has some spare time and would be interesting in taking it over and getting it released, then please get in touch, or if you have any ideas of methods to get the thing out there with minimal effort on my part I'd be interested to know what they are. Any thoughts welcome, really.

        That is a really nice looking game! Good luck on getting it released! I'd say 90% of my projects are also around 10% unfinished. :laugh:

          Nice! If I were you, I would focus on implementing some sort of patching mechanism (so you can release updates) and just get it released. Gamers these days are used to starting a game every now and again and waiting while a patch downloads before they can continue.

              Really neat looking - I'd love to see how the animations are done. I've always wanted to do something like that myself. (I'd love to finish up the game as well, but with a 1 year old, I'm finding myself with very little free time lately).

                Finish it! That's my advice. Of course, the question is, "What's finished mean" I'd just get enough done that you can release a 'beta', for free, and get feedback from it. Depending on the reactions, you may decide to leave it at that, or decide to spend some more time on it !

                  Unfortunately, I have an unfinished project from 8 years ago. I worked on it religiously for 2 years and then ran out of money. It was to the point that I could release a personal and small business version but realized that it was too technical for individuals or small businesses to use and that the only market was an enterprise version, which was about 6 months out. In hindsight it was good science and I hadn't done market research before starting out. I had to return to work and now it is so outdated that it would take a major rewrite and it is no longer ahead on the curve, read a lot of competition these days. :doh: This was probably the 5th failed project I had worked on, but I must say that I have 2 failed projects since then. I guess it could be said that I have the entrepreneurial spirit. I will either succeed or die trying. :cool:

                    Bob, First, congrats on taking it this far. It would be a pity to see this thing die. Here are some thoughts: - Publish as is, ask for donations to finish - Find someone who has time to finish it, and limit your time to 1-2hrs/week review. (Could be a college kid to someone on CP who has time, or just lacks some experience) - Publish the source to CP, and write an article about it (or ask someone to). This would serve as a great tutorial for others wanting to learn how to write games. Be careful about some of the resources that you paid for. Not sure if you can release them. - Find a game publisher (like BigFish) and see if they are interested. They might have access to developers who would finish it and they would include it in their offerings. Just thoughts. Hoping something catches your fancy. Be a shame to walk away from all of that work. Kirk Out!

                      The game looks cool enough - but the music is awesome! Is it an original composition - or something from the swing / ragtime era? What's its name, and do you know of anywhere I can find the sheet music?

                        I too must have more background on this music! Which is to say, based on this video I'd pay a couple bucks to play, at least to have the music. I have a weak spot for this.

                            That piece is called Speakeasy by Paul Freitas. I think he's got an album in iTunes with it on. It's also a library entry, meaning that it's available for licensing for use in film/TV/adverts or in this case games. I have purchased a worldwide license which means I can freely distribute it within the app, so long as its embedded and not a floating mp3. I haven't a clue whether you could get sheet music for it, I'd be surprised if he ever expressed it that way.
