Veyron! Pah! You want one of these ->...Never mind, I've done that reply once today. The Veyron is very nice, amd that engine is just increadible, but I have to say that the Caterham (or even better, the z100WR) would have it make it look foolish on pretty much any road in Britain. We dont have enough room to do 420kph, well, not for long anyway. And you'd have every cop in the country looking for you if you got caught. Its Acceleration all the way in my opinion. 4wd, wide tires all round and a bucket load of torque. You can't beat open topped sports cars. Pete

As I wrote in my previous reply - up to 100 Mph the z100WR and similar accelerate faster but above they are lost. I had the luck to see one of these Veyrons in real on the street during a show. I was amazed by the rather low sound compared to some Ferrari's. I think that there is no (public) road on earth where you can drive 420. Neither with or without police :)

Me, I've a 1973 Triumph GT6 gathering rust while I try and get two sunny days together to fix it up and my ideal car ( in the unlikely event of Merrion Computing turning a profit  ) would be a Caterham You? '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd

Me - a 2000 Ford Focus 1.6 (nice car, but not at the super-car levels that you guys are talking about!) However, my brother is driving a 1976 (I think) Triumph Spitfire Mk2 - in fact, it's the very Triumph Spitfire that is on the cover of this month's "Classic Car" magazine in the UK. It's his car, but it ain't him driving it on the cover of the magazine, just a pair of models (who really aren't very attractive for models...)

Just traded my 911 for a Cayenne S. With one kid (and a second on the way) and a dog, we needed more of a family vehicle. I'm planning to get another 911 at some point - I loved that car.

I'm driving - er - riding a 1993 Harley-Davidson FLSTC, customized by yours truly in a style I call "retro-custom". I've customized it in such a way as to resemble a late 60's Panhead 'Glide. Pic is here[^] When it's just too damn hot or cold to ride, I move to my secondary vehicle - a 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra painted "diamond white" (white with a platinum pearl overcoat). My wife drives a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup. If I was gonna go out and buy a new car, I think I'd have to look REAL hard at the 2005 Mustang (or a new Park Avenue Ultra) ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

Ireland's kind of a long way from High Wycombe[^] for the amount of time normally needed to restore a Triumph! Although yours doesn't look like it's in particularly bad condition. Ever considered converting it into a Gitfire?

I got a pickup truck. A 1998 GMC Sonoma. Plenty of room in the back for beer, ammunition, and a couple of deer should I hit a couple grazing along the highway. The rifles stow behind the seat neatly, or in the rack on the back window, so I can get at them if I need to pass someone on the road. Currently a 94 Chev Cavalier RS (Z24 without ground effects). Being *severely* tempted/lured by an Impreza WRX.;P (no drool icon) Just wish they weren't so bleeding expensive (35K CDN) Although they can't keep 'em on the lot long enough for me to test drive one, so I suppose I'm lucky in a way.
