Yes, you will need some sort of "box" that will connect to the internet and to your TV. That can be Google's ChromeCast or a Roku box or something similar. If you have a DVD player it may also have Netflix on it or you can buy one with the Netflix app in it. If you have a Nintendo Wii you can download the Netflix app for free to that. If your TV has an HDMI port then your options are many. I think the cheapest if you don't already have a "box" (and you have a smartphone) is the ChromeCast and the netflix app on your smartphone.

Thank you! That's what I thought, but you know, it is always better to ask... ;)

My cable box has Netflix built in. However it often doesn't work well so I plug my laptop into a HDMI port and stream through that. I think my Bluray player also has a Netflix App.

The best option out there is the one you are doing: no format problems, it works always... but I don't want to have to connect/disconnect the laptop each day I arrive home, I want my wife to be able to see the TV while I'm out... After what I've read I'll search for a box that can do it. Thanks!

If you can't get it on your TV or cable box (Or similar device), yeah, you'll need a dedicated box. I like Roku... They were the first ones to offer a decent product in that niche, and I used a Roku box until I got my first Smart TV... Simple and effective.

Can ROKU access DLNA content? I've read some places that say it can and some others that say it can't... I have serviio in my computer and sometimes the TV can't read some formats... that could help too... This could be a great improvement: I could have all my networked/dlna content available as the Netflix internet streaming... Thank you!

Of the many films that you can stream from Netflix most of them are under a license agreement from Epix

I highly recommend the Western Digital Media Player[^].  I've owned one for years - it's very versatile, reliable and easy to use.  Just make sure it's compatible with Netflix Spain. /ravi

It looks very good... This could help in all my Serviio/LAN streaming... as it looks like it supports all the formats under the sun. What I've not seen is that it is compatible with Netflix... not in Spain but not in any other place too... Is it compatible with Netflix in your country?

That's an option... another one would be a RaspberryPi or similar and control it from the phone... Yours is in fact the best in terms of supported formats, openess, new services... the problem is the comfort in the couch... which after working all the day with computers I would like to have...

We use a new Sony Blueray player with it and several other things built in, but you still need a high speed internet conection.

Won't 10mbps DSL be enough? It is what we have in our small village... It works with our current FullHD streaming service...

 That would be the way to get one... Mrs. Wife... we need an XBOX... you know it is only for Netflix... No... I've never had a console and I won't start it right now... I just don't have time to play games, but if they would not be so expensive it would be an option.

Ah you see, my laptop is not a work one and doesn't travel with me. In fact it mostly lives on a little table next to the TV when not being used for something. I had to talk my wife through getting it on the TV yesterday. She coped with plugging it in but didn't know how to get the display on the TV.

That is just in the US I think. At least in the UK their licensing and content is different and won't be affected by that decision.

You can get an HTPC case, then it just looks like another stereo component. If you auto-run Kodi or similar, you never have to see Windows :) Kodi has add-ons that let you run it from an Android / iOS device through the network if you want...kinda neat but I still prefer my mini-wireless keyboard and keep my tablet for surfing the net while I watch TV. Kodi also has an add-on that lets you run Netflix inside Kodi...I haven't tried it, myself.

Yep, once it arrives I'll check if the app has appeared, but even if I go to NetTV and search for international applications I can't see Netflix so I think they won't make it... The TV is a Philips 40PFL7605/12.

The Western Digital WD TV Live Plus model supports Netflix in US, Canada and Australia, and perhaps other countries.  See this[^] PC Mag review.  But I think it's best to confirm Netflix Spain support with Western Digital before buying it. /ravi

Hello all, It looks like Netflix will arrive soon to Spain (it was about time)... We do have a Smart TV model from 2010, it's a very nice FullHD TV, but it does not has a Netflix application... So... how does Netflix arrive to let's say a "Dumb" TV? Do I need some kind of box? I have seen Apple TV, Roku... it looks like all of them can do it, which would be your recommendation? Believe it or not I have Googled it and I have found only plenty of disgusted people because my TV doesn't have the Netflix app, some people recommending those boxes, people recommending to plug the computer directly to the TV, raspberry Pi solutions, and even some people trying to stream the content using media servers... Any advice to separate all this noise? Thank you in advance!

I use the Xbox (or kindle). My kid uses his Wii, but he also has a blue ray player that will do it. Both the Xbox and the blue ray can connect to the wire, but the wii can only use wireless. Last weekend I finally got around to hooking up a wireless router just for the kid's many devices.

No because it's already half the service they get in the US (or rather have been getting up to now).
