I have got to apologise for the Flying Spaghetti Monster posting, I thought I was posting an amusing bit of news and did not consider the religious angle relevant. Actually I did not consider the religious angle at all! And you are correct it should have been posted in the SB.

Bullshit. It was and still is a fine post. Some people taking the piss and enjoying life. I didn't even click through as I basically knew what it was about. I did click through the responses as there is generally some good and funny responses to read. Unfortunately the god botherers turned up, spoilt it for all and as always I couldn't walk away from stupid. Not sorry and it was Sunday morning so sober as I took the daughter to soccer.

At top of the lounge is a sticky post that states some rules for posting in the lounge. In the last little while it seems that the rules have gone out the window. There have been discussions about sex and religion and blatant personal attacks. The worse is that this comes from long time members who should know better. The powers that be have provided a forum for discussing sex and religion and the personal attacks are not suppose to be here at all.

I haven't been around here lately, except to drop in briefly, but I haven't seen anything a bit offensive in the Lounge, Pete. I know you're not an alarmist, so I'm wondering what I missed. The Lounge has always welcomed humor and especially satire, if such is presented in a tasteful manner, without personal rancor. I haven't spotted anything that exceeds the bounds of propriety lately. But if it's happening, then I agree completely that such posts belong in the Soapbox.

You mean it got your hackles up and now you are pissed off that it turned out to be a false alarm. :-D

hah ! - 'you wish' and 'not at all' - all Im suggesting is if people didnt see that your post was intended as humorous, there would be all out war, and thus there's a need for 'care'

I'd disagree - it was a good and innocuous post. Funny as well. It became SB material only when it was hijacked by Our Resident Troll. You aren't responsible for what anyone else does with your thread - and if the troll hadn't been fed, it wouldn't have been a problem at all.
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Stop behaving like a troll, and we'll stop treating you like a troll. Seriously. I could name two currently-contributing members who were dreadful trolls, in past lives. Now they just enjoy the Lounge (despite still pulling the googling in an effort to *win!* thing, now and then). Stop the sht1, and people will stop disliking you.

He gets special allowance because he is a fellow countryman of Maunders and possibly a personal friend. Maunder does on occasion have to remind him to control his language, but as in all things, the rules are not applied evenly.

I think it's a fine post. In fact it gave me some ideas too. Solemnizing weddings is something we never thought of. I personally know some of the guys who created the Dinkoism spoof. I shall pass on this idea of petitioning a court to authorize our clergy to solemnize weddings. I would love to see the judge's face when the petition comes up for hearing. Thank you :)

Hi Mycroft, I think the day we lot cannot discuss the divinity of the cookie-monster is the day we have lost some of our own divinity, and, possibly, some of our cookies. cheers, Bill

We've had a beer twice and a coffee once. Not quite personal friends.

Spot on the money. Life's not always fair, people don't have to like it but that is what happens everywhere.

The same reason that on a quiet Sunday morning while I was driving at 20mph through a 20mph area some clot decides that they have to overtake me because they need to travel at 40mph. It used to be known as antisocial behaviour - I think its called entrepreneurialism nowadays.

I did not say it's a great movie. But I found the scene where the lady gets the two of them thrown off the plane for looking brown really hilarious. You probably don't like it because it's too close to home for comfort :-D

OK. Chill. I deleted both the messages. I think I overreacted just as you did. Let's not start a profiling war. :)

You only get sht1 from me when you try to turn a discussion into a google "I Gotta Win!" fight. That ain't what people go to a Lounge for. Especially when you google up totally inaccurate cr@p like Greek Frappe being French, and Italian (Gelato) Frappe being American; and talk about "stab mixers", which we ain't got in England (and which is probably a single word in German, but I ain't gonna google to check, because this is a discussion, not a google "I Gotta Win!" fight). Don't expect people to be waste time on pleasantries with you when you pull that kind of google bullfactory. Reasonable behaviour receives reasonable responses.

I don't think that post needed to go into the SB. I don't think it was in any manner offensive, there again as an atheist I would say that wouldn't I.
