In exiting VS, it asked me if I wanted to save my changes I agreed by clicking the red X at the top right of the dialog. I was led to believe that the red X at top right of a window or dialog box is now the OK button.

I found a workaround. If I hit the Cancel button on the Save Dialog, it should ask me the next day, and keep badgering me until I finally save my cpp file. By jove, I think I've got it now....

My work's not worth saving for years on end, so he must be really good if it's only hours.

Have you ever considered hitting the "OK" button on the Save window* That works for many of us. * it's not a dialog

What version of VS is this? Mine autosaves every time I start debugging...for the most part, that setting is optimal...or did you code nonstop for 6 hours without debugging?

Or even compiling - my system saves every time I press CTRL+SHIFT+B

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Are you sure you typed the title of the message correct !!! I mean six hours.. Where 1 hour means 60 minutes ! And you went on coding without saving or even running (Ctrl + F5) or debugging (F5) even once.. ! Unbelievable ! :|

              Thanks, Milind

So you know how to write code in Visual Studio but you have never learned the basics of a Dialog Box?

Indeed. MS just lowered W10 from the PUP to the Malware level.

I do. Do they ? : Windows 10 Upgrade Activates By Clicking Red X Close Button In Prompt Message - Slashdot[^] Microsoft accused of Windows 10 upgrade 'nasty trick' - BBC News[^] Don't worry - I've spent decades at the wndproc level .... until the other day, I thought I knew how DLGs worked et al. It's getting to the point where you have to write something at Ring 0 to stop these attempts by MS to have your machines "upgraded" to Windows 10. wonder if all these forced updates have anything to do with the money MS can charge to marketers wanting to have their product placements/advertising appear in this new SAAS approach ms is taking.... Anyway you look at it - how MS has carried itself with this whole w10 fiasco is the subject of another story.

Very interesting, but nothing to do with your problem.
