For want of a roof box...

So I can fit the roof box to me new Land Rover, I need cross bars. So I can fit the cross bars, I need to get roof rails. This will be the THIRD set of mountings I have bought for the roof box, a box that cost about £100 and has now set me back in excess of £500 to get it on top of the cars. :mad: AND I need to find a replacement parcel shelf for the back of the car; another £150 or so.

You probably should have bought an American made pickup. Just through whatever it is you have in the back. On top of that, it would also include a pre-mounted gun-rack.

You probably should have bought an American made pickup. Just through whatever it is you have in the back. On top of that, it would also include a pre-mounted gun-rack.

There are many things I could have got, but considering that as each new generation of my family has come the genepool has widened I don't feel I have the right breeding for a pick-up.

I used to have a 1985 Olds Delta 88... a boat of a car. When I needed to transport a quantity of items, I purchased a roof box, drilled holes, attached securing points and put it on top of the car. No racks, just the car top. I then used ratchet straps from the securing points; the straps when just between the doors and the roof. Low cost and effective.
