For rifles, the minimum age to own is 18 (I think), and openly carrying a rifle is legal without a license. 2) The number of people that are licensed to carry in Texas, and that have abused that privilege can be counted on ONE HAND. Compare that to the number of cops that have broken the law (they're allowed to openly carry weapons), and any reasonable person begins to wonder who should/should not be carrying a weapon. Finally, someone that wants to shoot up a classroom or teachers office will most certainly NOT be deterred by gun-free-zone signs. The only thing that might deter them is the knowledge that they could be shot themselves, but the insane are rarely concerned for their own life. All this hand-wringing and doom-saying is pointless, absurd, and laughable.
