    They could do something....

It is probably inevitable, but it may also be too late. Anyone that says we do not live in a police state is either naive or in denial. Corporatism/Fascism will plow forward and there is not much we can do here in the states. With things like TPP it will plow through other nation states as well. In a matter of a couple decades the statehood will be a thing of the past and just a geographic label.

Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet. The interesting thing about software is it can not reproduce, until it can.

Not really. This generation has suffered a severe degradation in education due to common core. American History and Civics aren't taught any longer, primarily the Constitution and Bill of Rights, math is taught to say that 2 + 2 = 5 (theoretically), and Ebonics and Spanish are favored over the English language. The American flag is disrespected and even objected to when displayed. Memorials to the twin towers on 911 are considered to be in bad taste and is seen as disrespectful to Muslims. Political Correctness is seen as the law of the land. The new iPhone has more news coverage than the current economy. Many Americans no longer care as long as they get their immediate entertainment, especially this latest generation. I could go on, but the point is that there aren't enough of us older folk left to turn the situation around. I do weep for the future of this country.

When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others. Same thing when you are stupid.

I think the problem has more to do with prosperity; it's a model that we've seen before. When basic needs are met at a societal level, then wants become needs and opinions becomes facts. I don't think individual age has a thing to do with it unless you want to go full-on Orwellian. Oh wait, that already happened with the PC movement and the SJWs. There goes that argument.

That's awesome! Walmart needs more college grads to man the registers and stock shelves.

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

In my weee little town of 15K people (an hour drive to the next population in any direction) we have a WalMart. I know the GM and shift managers and many of the workers. They have a GIANT banner hanging out front that is accurate every day, they are hiring all positions, all shifts, well above min wage. On any given day, there are at least a half dozen pan handlers out in the parking lot begging for money. You can't offer them work, they don't want it, they want the free money, beer, and weed. Coincidentally, they also all were Sanders supporters when he was in the running, go figure.
