I've been drinking tea since i was very young, though mostly herbal tea until 11-12 yrs of age (mint tea is good for an upset stomach). Coffee i started on a bit later; i love the smell of coffee, but don't care much for the taste unless it is fairly fresh (a rare thing it seems).

The question really was whether it was a matter of your choice or did your parents restrict you or tell you that coffee is not very good for you. I got used to it for a while (an year or so), because of the Kuerig coffee maker at my office. It brews coffee very fast, so you get fresh coffee in many different flavours whenever :-). When I was young, my mother would never allow me or my sister to drink coffee or tea (i guess because of the caffiene). I was so not interested in it that I never drank tea or coffee until I was 15 or so. To my dismay, in my office one guy was picking out the best flavour for his 6 to 12 year old children. I'm 17 now and have been drinking tea since I can remember. Coffee only recently and cappachinos (sp?) for about 2 years now. I rarely drink coffee tho. Only in cafés etc... in town when i'm there (very cultured)

Tea: ever since I recall. (grandparents would push it, parents'd just provide it.) (caffeinated) Coffee: hated it until addicted to espresso in univ. My son'll have nothing to do with either of them.

I don't drink coffee. Nor have I ever drunk coffee. I can't get past the smell making me vomit. It makes coffee breaks very messy affairs. I used to drink tea as a child. I was probably about seven years old. I stopped when I found hot chocolate and alcohol. Not together though, that would taste crap. Nowadays I just use coke. Did I say use? I mean't drink. I don't let my kids drink tea, coffee or coke though. Then again I don't let them watch telly, go outside or use the telephone. They are all bad for them too. Really I do not have any kids. But I wouldn't let them drink coffee because it makes you taste really bad. And it stains your teeth. I must leave now. I will get this addin working. Someday. ** twitch twitch **

Yeah, my folks were never much in favor of kids drinking coffee, though they were all about us drinking "Postum" (if you haven't heard of Postum, it's kinda like really, really, really bad coffee, except it's made of burnt grain and is supposed to be healthy). I've been drinking tea ever since I can remember but I didn't start drinking coffee until high school. Even now, I can't drink coffee unless it has cream and sugar in it (unless it's really good coffee). I drink cappucino's like a crazy madman when the opportunity arises though.:) This reminds me of the night my roommate first got his new espresso machine. He drank 12 cups and then called the student health services and said, "I just drank 12 cups of espresso am I going to die?" really fast. He was so wired that night we were able to talk him into dressing up in a gorilla suit and doing really stupid stuff like going into the ladies restroom, running away from RAs for no reason, and posing as a duty team member. We made a video and the best scene is where we're getting off the elevator. He's dressed up in the gorilla suit, sitting in a shopping cart (I'm the "driver"), and holding an umbrella. We got a lot of funny looks that night. Sorry about my ramblings, I'm a little tipsy Brad Jennings Brad Jennings "You're mom is nice. Mind if I go out with her?" - Jörgen Sigvardsson

We were never allowed coffee as kids, and I never understood why. I still don't. There's more caffeine in soft drinks, especially colas, and the acid content is lower than most kids' drinks. If anything, kids should be encouraged to drink coffee rather than Coke. One thing that was banned in my house as a kid that the neighbors all got to have was Kool-Aide. My dad served on an aircraft carrier in WWII, and still remembers using powdered Kool-Aide to remove the rust on the flight deck. I drank tea from an early age, probably 10 or so. I drink about 15 cups of tea a day now. On the way into work this morning the radio news announced some French researchers have discovered that tea (regular, not herbal or green or rooibos) drinkers have stronger immune systems and may even be less likely to get cancer. And regular tea is healthy enough, in moderation of course, just like anything. It is not going to screw up your kids.

Sensible people don't let their kids have either. Too much caffeine isn't good for the growing body. My son is 6 and occasionaly gets to have a small Coke with his Happy Meal. Lemonade (Sprite to you heathens), juice, water are the staples. Instant coffee and tea bags also don't have the caffeine level of fresh brewed coffee and tea leaves. Both my kids occasionaly have tea but I think coffee will be left until at least high school. I hate coffee and only like Lipton tea. I think that you should let kids drink coffee whenever they can ask for it. That horrible taste should drive them away. X| ...Zack... Well, as a kid, I can say that I never really got into caffeine until this year (14 years old). Nowadays its Jolt soda (citrus flavored, preferably) or just straight caffeine pills (). I can't stand the taste of Coke, and didn't like coffee when I tried it a while back... eh, caffeine pills take care of it all.
