hi, the goverment of slovenia (europe) blocked a website containing list of former members of secret communist police in our country. no one from slovenia can access the list. official explanation is that the list contains personal data. since the list is in asia they can't close the site so they ordered all ISPs in the country to block the address. i would like to replicate the list across the web. my question is - is there any free infrastructure available from various liberty organizations that would do the work for me. what i'm seeking for is a combined web hosting / replicator service to which i could tell what to replicate (root) and it would create a replica (perhaps something sponsored by the us gov)? anyone can help with this? the site address is http://www.udba.net and it is approx. 50 Gigs in size. Are you sure that this is the right URL? It doesn't respond in the US, and Internic, RIPE, etc have no record of its registration. MSN, surprisingly, reports that udba.com and .net are already registered, but provides no other detail. "Please don't put cigarette butts in the urinal. What about historical perspective, I mean what about OZNA, SDB, KOS, VOS, SID - are they mentioned. Yes, it's amazing that such a small country had so many secret services. P.S. Sasa, yes, these are actually scanned archives of all UDBA (former communist secret police) members with names & personal data. It also contains details from dossiers of people that were monitored by the secret police for a period of 50 years (this part is IMO problematic, because it does contain personal data!). It is for Slovenia only and has perhaps already been sabotaged. What we found out from archives is that a lot of leading politicians figures from Slovenia were former members or informers of the secret communist police: such as president Janez Drnovsek, MP Zmago Jelincic, MP Lojze Peterle. This is not something that would gravely influence our political space but it is in my belief something the public has the right to know about. Regards, Tomaz

Yesterday the Thai police blocked the web site so it's all over for now. :-( I'm sure it will reappear in one form or another. Regards, Tomaz
