    The number of times I've want to post an answer like "Why don't you try a career in aged care rather than programming"...

      Or teach him to ask "Do you want fries with that?"

      The language is JavaScript. that of Mordor, which I will not utter here
      This is Javascript. If you put big wheels and a racing stripe on a golf cart, it's still a fucking golf cart.

        Ha ha, a good one... They will fail there I think because a kind of certificate/diploma is needed for this, but for programming ... nope... :-)

                Just use if else ... If (CareerInAgedCare.Possible) { Post("Why don't you try a career in aged care rather than programming"); } else { PostRealAnswer(); }

                            I agree. Beginning developers should already know how to code. :rolleyes: :doh:

                                  We have an official set of CP comments for that class of help request. These are used as links for the answers. One I would appreciate on this hoped-for list: You cannot use your smartphone to write proper code - it cannot make up for you being stupid.

                                    I agree. Beginning developers should already know how to code. :rolleyes: :doh:

                                    At least be able to look up syntax, read documentation, and some basics like looping, branching and testing. Without that knowledge one is merely begging for the right words to "insert" into the existing code. Imagine your surgeons being trained like developers.

                                      The number of times I've want to post an answer like "Why don't you try a career in aged care rather than programming"...

                                      I got reported for being abusive because I told one person that they should box up their computer and take it back to the store and get a refund. Of course, that was only slightly better than the one guy that was asking how to do his final year project, him I told to go to the registrars office and see if he could get a refund on his college education because clearly he learned nothing there. Libs didn't like that one either.

                                          I think some people come here brand new, they don't even have that yet. They still deserve respect and help.
