"Oh, let's not forget that wholesale misrepresentation and lying about everything is somehow called "reporting the news" How did CNN get into this thread?

Oh, I'm not saying CNN is innocent. All the news outlets put their own spin on everything. Faux News sets the standard for "Fact checking? What's that?" by telling the truth about 3% to 22% of the time, depending on the study. MSNBC is nearly as bad. CNN actually gets shit right about 40 to 50% of the time. No, I don't get my information and news from any single source. I try to get the news from multiple sources and do my own research and fact checking.

In that case, let's bury all of the media.

I would prefer burning down every journalism class room and rebuilding from scratch with a heavy emphasis on research and ethics.

Interesting about the statistics on Fact Checking. Can you point me to that study. I'd be interested in reading that.

All my notes are at home and I'm at work right now. For a more "general" record you can look at the TV statements at PunditFact[^]. Just look under the TV menu for others. I like them because they include all of their sources in their evaluations. Makes it easy to see what they were looking at, read those sources yourself, and hunt down others they may have missed or left out. For a more topic specific look, Science or Spin?: Assessing the Accuracy of Cable News Coverage of Climate Science (2014) | Union of Concerned Scientists[^] is a nice look, complete with research data and methodology documentation.

Yeah, heaven forbid there should be a different point of view presented to the public. The left only wants to silence opposition rather than debate it in the arena of ideas.

The right has dominated the media for years. They use it to whine about how the left is dominating it. But Faux News (note the title) presented little to no actual news, but rather, vitriolic propaganda. Repeated over and over and over and over. Facts? Proof? Well - they're not presenting news so they're not held to that standard. They just present their sh^t as news.

Yeah, back in the day it seemed that ~85% of news was fact based reporting (ie. this is what has happened) and the remainder was opinion based editorials (ie. this is what we / I think about what happened). Now days the percentages have flip flopped. X|

The PunditFact rating isn't really that good of an indicator, mainly because they don't fact check every statement made. Their limited resource force them to check only a handful of statements made by network. And those generally are the ones someone wrote in and requested they check -- with those being the one that sounded the most screwy. So, if one network said 100 crazy things and 25 of them turn out to be true, or they better or worse than another network which said only 4 crazy thing, but all were false? Further, that site is reporting on what the networks pundits say. If you are going to declare a network as "fake news" you have to go but what their news anchors say.

                              Truth, James

I guess you missed the revelation that it was Hillary's campaign that PAID these "people" to riot at Trump rallies! The left always riots when they don't get their way. You NEVER see conservatives riot.

Why don't you connect to reality? Talk show radio is nearly 100% dominated by you right-wing fanatics. Faux News has the largest veiwship. Or do yo just continue to ignore those fact and choose your alternate facts?

Instead of spouting crap - why not look it up! Which of Faux's (or better Fool's) News shows are actually news and not opinion? Or don't you care? There is a difference. Really!

And it was Hillary's campaign that put the words in that orange monkey's mouth that he'd pay there legal fees? They make up whatever they want - and know you'll swallow it. Still do - he's lied almost continuously before and since the election and inauguration. Or do you just listen to his childish whining and believe him? And - tell me - what would you have said if it was Hillary Clinton who disclosed those highest level secrets to the Russians? Don't bother replying until you can answer this. Why your president cannot be trusted with the nations secrets. And look up what he said about those kind of people. Or, continue in your alternate bizarro universe.
