Terrorism in Barcelona, Trump tweets...

Just curious... this is not related to Barcelona, is it?

I was ranting about the drawing of a parallel between this attack and the recent contretemps between 2 groups in the US.

Of course there is. Do you think that it is only the left wing protesters who object to the biggoted racism displayed by the far right? It is everyone who ISNT a far right moron who objects. It is the far right out on the wing. And in Barcelona it is the Islamic terrorists out on the wing. Everyone else in normal society has not only the right but the duty to defend itself from such violent extremism, even if it has to use violence to do so.
You forgot the other half of the statement in your response. I was not discussing the right, left or any other insane delusions or political leanings. Nor did I bring in bigotry. On one hand you have two mutually antagonistic groups fighting over their beliefs and the other an attack on unarmed, innocent tourists (mostly) by a group (with insane beliefs) driving a van. And you want to draw a parallel and throw in Trump as well.

I didn't forget it, it is in the eye of the beholder. YOU think Europeans are innocent, jihaddis dont, because their those European countries went to war in Iraq and killed muslims. And before you go off on one that is NOT what I think, that is what THEY think, OK? The fact is you have on the one hand, a bunch of assholes, and on the other normal, decent society (yes, relative to anti-semites antifa are normal). Society has a right and a duty to deal with assholes any way it feels fit, and while the US has no anti hate speech laws to make this right wing march illegal, whereby the police could act, then the populace will have to do the job. The same happened on a train out of Brussels. A jihaddi comes out of a toilet with an AK47 and in the absence of the police a British IT worker and two off duty US soldiers nailed the guy. Job done, asshole dealt with. As for Trump, I am, of course, deriding his inability to side with normal society and condemn out of hand the far right. His presidency is now at an end.

You don't need to get into terrorism or so to see that laws are messed up. In many countries, if you hurt an intruder in your own home, he (or his family) will sue you and you will very probably end paying him/them compensations or even going to jail. I know the usual way is to call the police and it must remain always be the first option, but people in immediate danger without the possibility of getting external help should be able to defend themselves without fearing later reprisals. And so far... this is not always the situation.

I didn't ask about the terrorist attack. I asked about the one innocent in the van being attacked that he used in his message... see my first message and what I quoted in it.

I know about the terrorist attack. I meant that with the innocent guy being attacked in the van that he used as example answering you. see my first message and what I quoted in it.

Bullshit there is no parallel between two mutually antagonistic group having a go at each other and a single coward attacking unsuspecting tourist who are minding their own business using a fucking van. If you meant that as humour it was in very bad taste. If you actually believe there is a parallel then you have a warped sense of balance.

D***ed English confusion again. The terrorist was in the van, not the innocent tourist. But re-reading his original comment I can see how non-English speakers could read it.
Ok... then I think I will clean up the thread... to avoid further missunderstandings

"but there was violence on both sides!!!!!" Yeah, the police shot the assholes. Sometimes, you need to identify the assholes and deal with them. (Of course Trump didnt tweet this, I was merely drawing a parallel between biggoted racists and biggoted racists).

Ya, you nailed it. The police are just a bunch of protesting violent people. Totally parallel.
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who can extrapolate from incomplete data. There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

"unsuspecting tourist who are minding their own business using a f***ing van." He meant the terrorists used a van to kill innocents, not that the innocent was in the van.

Oh, so the police aren't members of society enforcing acceptable behaviour? Here are some in the UK using violence on the far right. police control ultra right wing march in UK - Recherche Google[^]

Off into the weeds again. I don't think you ever understand anything I write. Granted, I may misunderstand you first, but every time you respond it is clear we are not on the same page or even in the same chapter.

Richard already clarified it... I just understood it the wrong way

Why does everyone have the same reaction to what you write? I often think it is because we read subtlety into words which you lack. ie, your statements really are as simplistically wrong as they appear at prima facie.
