So no, there isn't anything more interesting. :)

Overall I don't care about Trump one way or the other in this case. I've got friends who live South West of Houston in League City. Along with others in south Texas. Fortunately they have all checked in and seem to be okay. I had to read the article because I thought one party or the other was threatening a government shutdown. Turns out he is the one threatening a partial shutdown if he doesn't get the wall money. :sigh: My beef is with people like Cruz and other politicians who didn't support Sandy relief for whatever their reason du jour happened to be. Those who are now saying they need money so badly to help the devastated areas. I hope the people down there get the relief they need and I hope they remember their politicians are not the reason they received assistance. It is the rest of the politicians who put aside their petty bickering to help others. That said, I realize no politician at that level has ever done anything decent for another human being without expecting something in return. Just look at Hiram Johnson in the late 20s sponsoring flood relief in Alabama with the expectation of votes to get the Hoover Dam built.

If I recall many of the pols who did not support the Sandy relief bill said they did so due to the huge amounts of non-relief related special interest spending included. The question is: Does the Harvey relief bill also include so much pork? Disclaimer: Not supporting Cruz or any pol. They're all pretty much scum.

A lot of politicians claimed one reason or another to not support it. I didn't read the bill and even if I had, I'm not sure that I would grasp all the nuances. Given their history though, I doubt most of the detractors read it either. I'm not sure how much true pork was in there and how much was implied by opponents. If I recall that was around the time where cooperation was pretty non-existent. Plenty of "We'll stop Obama if it's the last thing we do!" complete with villain mustache curl. Not that it is any different now, just a different name. DC has always been a "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" sort of town. Now it just seems that everyone wants to be scratched and no one wants to do the scratching.

Hurricane Harvey – GOP Non-Hypocrisy | National Review[^] Biased I'm sure. But worth a short read nonetheless.

The National Review tends to be but it is getting harder to find unbiased reporting anymore. NY Daily News is a gossip rag that delights in heckling everyone and anyone. Bloomberg... is anyone surprised? The complaint about the majority of the funds not being spent until 2015 makes sense given that they are predicting years of cleanup and repair effort for this one. There is certainly some scratch my back going on in there too. Though complaining about New England fisheries having taken damage during a storm that close makes me sigh. The Alaska bit makes me shake my head but yes, some pork. 25% of the funds for any state that had declared an emergency in the past two years sounds a little suspect but within the realm of possibility.

Here in the UK, we've got the BBC and various other "news" outlets who are intent on disparaging anything they don't agree with (Trump, Brexit, etc).. it's almost like there's no other news in the world these days (European migrant crisis, global terrorism, runaway house prices, education and health systems creaking, etc, etc..).. It's all "Trump this" and "Brexit that".. X|

Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.

Its the same here. We have a massive natural disaster going on (as I type) in Texas and the media, while covering the flooding, still finds time to worry about what president Trump is doing minute to minute and what shoes the first lady wore while walking from the White House to an Air Force chopper. It has gone beyond pathetic.

Don't misunderstand - I agree with the substance of the executive order. I've said the same thing after any number of hurricanes. Don't rebuild the same old crap. Prepare for the next hurricane. I just think that is common sense and shouldn't require an executive order. As for Trump cancelling this executive order... I suspect it was mostly #1 with a touch of AGW denial.

I don't think I've ever seen so many butt-hurt f*ckin foreigners over one of our presidential elections. Please get-the-f*ck over it already.

When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others. Same thing when you are stupid.
