Thought I'd look into getting one, and there's too many options. Looking for relatively low price (< $200 ideally, anything more needs to have "wow" must have features), obviously camera, and streams to Android (not iOS!) but ideally I'd love to have the thing stream to my laptop instead. Range is relatively important (some of cheap ones seem to be only a few hundred feet), auto-return home is great, doing stunts is unimportant, pre-programmed flight path would be a nice to-have feature. Any recommendations? :)

      Maybe one of [these](https://www.google.com/search?q=Predator+Drone&safe=off&rlz=1C1VFKB\_enUS716US716&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj-\_veV\_5\_WAhUJS2MKHRSNAVEQ\_AUICigB&biw=1559&bih=941)?

If it's not broken, fix it until it is. Everything makes sense in someone's mind. Ya can't fix stupid.

Not really, but I have an anti-recommendation - what I did. Built a monster drone with 6x500W motors about 80cm wide, I've got it to lift 4 litres of coke in the air. That's all quite cool (and useful) but the thing scares me to death as a collision with it would probably be fatal. When I got panicked that I didn't know which way it was facing so turned off the transmitter (to invoke auto land) it brought home the flying killbot 500 feet above me was actually being controlled by the onboard computer rather than my remote control. How well did they do their testing? Did they use Java?? Watch YouTube 'fly aways' for full fear factor. It cost about a grand or 1,300 of your American Dollars, quite a bit for something that lives permanently disconnected from power for fear of what it could do to the world. I try to avoid eye contact with it when I go in the garage. Never again.

                Regards, Rob Philpott.

I've been wanting to get something like that too. I like this one and am considering it myself: Drone with Camera, Potensic Drone F181WH WiFi FPV Quadcopter with HD Camera, Altitude Hold, and Live Video Plus Remote Control-Blue[^] around $119. For more pricey with more options there's: Parrot Bebop 2 Adventurer - Complete bundle with up to 25 minutes of flight time, Follow me, and backpack[^]

Couldn't seem to edit my other answer, but wow, here's one that includes flight plans and is still only $129 Thunderbolt WiFi FPV Drone with Camera – LED Quadcopter Drone with Headless Mode & Altitude Hold – Hover, and Watch Live Video[^]

                          Quote:

Sit Back & Enjoy The View with Flight Plan - Just want to relax? Preprogram your desired flight path and let your drone do the rest. Just kick back and fully immerse yourself in flight.

there's a nice video review by a buyer on the amazon page. You can see it in action.

If you are looking for sub-$200 then you are looking at a good toy that will have some of the features you are looking for but not all. First, you need to start off with a good Transmitter, having a good transmitter will allow you to have several drones/aircraft on one Radio. I would Recommend the Turnigy 9XR Pro (with the Orange TX module) you can get this for just about $100.00. Next, comes the drone; a company called Eachine sell Lizard95 for about $100.00 now you will need batteries which could cost about $100.00 (you will need batteries for the TX and about 4 or 5 batteries for the Lizard95). Now you will need to charge them and can get a charger for about $50.00. The Lizard95 comes with an FPV camera and if you want it to do directly to a laptop that might be difficult but they do have adapters to connect to Android. You need to do a little research on this because if you get the wrong one you will not be able to fly FPV because the video response time is too slow. You can buy FPV goggles for about $75. If you are new to Flying RC or FPV, in general, I would recommend getting the Eachine E010S and a set of 5 batteries with charger total for this is about $75. The Eachine E010S will allow you to fly indoors causing little damage to your house and the drone and you can learn how to fly. Also practice with simulators. If you are new I would go check RCGroups and YouTube and learn how to handle a Drone. One mistake and you can cut yourself badly. The Lizard95 is not a toy and the props are spinning at high speeds and can cause damage to you your furniture or others near by. So if you are careful with your budget you can get in for about $400 to $450 The cheaper path would be to get the Transmitter (module and battery) the goggles and the Eachine E010S with batteries and this would cost about $250.00 then when you are ready to upgrade to the Lizard95 or something similar then you can spend the extra and get the bigger drone plus batteries and charger (Note you only need to buy the charger once).

Interesting thought... US FAA regulations do not allow for drones flying over people. But doesn't seem to say anything about flying next to them...

FAA rules quick version, do not fly over 400 feet, do not fly over crowds, do not fly over stadiums, do not fly in National Parks and do not fly within 5 miles of the airport. I guess you can fly near a person but most-likely they know what you are doing if you are in a crowd and a quad crash on you it would not be a good day. Be smart and fly safely you will have more fun and everyone gets to go home. :)

Couldn't seem to edit my other answer, but wow, here's one that includes flight plans and is still only $129 Thunderbolt WiFi FPV Drone with Camera – LED Quadcopter Drone with Headless Mode & Altitude Hold – Hover, and Watch Live Video[^]

there's a nice video review by a buyer on the amazon page. You can see it in action.
