Short shorts don't automatically make one gay.

I'm not sure that at this point anyone really cares. I just wish they'd stop trying to sell me popcorn.

Scouts is a huge organization in America, so I would assume a lot of people care, one way or the other. What they should have done was teamed up with the existing Girl Scouts and just made a Scouting organization. Now, they are in competition with the girl scouts and the boy scouts popcorn is not as good as the girl scouts cookies.

Being caught in bed with a young, blond, German when assassinated (Rhom), and the very close relationship Baden-Powell had with a fellow officer is though. :)

I admit, I have never researched the sexuality preferences of either of them. Thank you, I think. :~

The rise of Hitler; Munich Putsch, Night of the Long Knives, Krystal Nacht, etc. Rhom, and the Brown Shirt leaders, were assassinated on the Night of the Long Knives, when Hitler took control of the Brown Shirts. Baden-Powell is famous for the defence of Mafeking. And of course the boy scouts, and is well known for having an inseperable friend in a fellow officer, which is generally touted to have been that of repressed homosexuality. Anyway, history eh? :)

A quasi militaristic organisation reminiscent of the Brown Shirts. Anyway, what about all the transgenders these days? The BSA will have to rename itself to the BGTSA. :)

(Back when I was Boy Scout) Scouting has never been "militaristic. Scouts are taught (and expected to learn) practical survival techniques, and they had a rifle, archery, and small game hunting merit badges strictly for the purposes of survival in the wild. We were never indoctrinated in marching, close order drill, or the proper technique for advancing on, enveloping, defeating, or defending a fortified or non-fortified position. In other words, it was hardly "militaristic".

I daresay the word "huge" is a pretty serious overstatement, but that wasn't my point. With all the other social engineering that's gone into that organization, this isn't even really a blip on the radar.

Just drawing a tenuous parallel. :) I doubt many in the army are though, if any at all, pretty hard to live the lifestyle I would imagine.

What, drinking, whoring, etc. with the lads? Well, even Alan Bennett had heterosexual relationships. :-D

There is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek article by Arthur C. Clarke (who was also homosexual) on the subject of why homosexuals should not be allowed in the military. After surveying the careers of various generals - from Julius Ceasar through Richard the Lionheart to Chakka Zulu, he came to the conclusion that they should not be allowed in the army because they are too bloodthirsty .

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack. --Winston Churchill
