          I don't think you peel chestnuts. When raw, you need to crush/crack the shell in order to extract the inside nut. You can boil or steam them briefly in order to soften the shell somewhat, but how you can do this in a mechanised/automated fashion, I don't really know. BTW. Something about chests and nuts, doesn' that belong in the Soap box ;P;P Chris Meech "what makes CP different is the people and sense of community, things people will only discover if they join up and join in."               Typically they are roasted with the (brown) shell, the core shrinks and is easy to pick out then. (You not talking about the spiky cover, aren't you???)

                            I seem to remember either - a) cut a cross in the bottom, and roast them b) boil them c) cut a cross in the bottom and then boil them. or a mixture of those options. :-D Cheers, Barry

                                    no, i'm talking about the brown shell. i saw a picture with a bowl full of pealed raw chest nuts and was wondering how they did it :) i was looking for an industrial solution, i dont have the nerve to peal them one by one X| --------------- Horatiu CRISTEA
