    I need a solution how to peal lets say couple of KG of chestnuts very easy and fast? (w/out too much manual work of course) :) i'm interesting on a solution how to get the "meat" from the nuts as compact as possible lol --------------- Horatiu CRISTEA

    I don't think you peel chestnuts. When raw, you need to crush/crack the shell in order to extract the inside nut. You can boil or steam them briefly in order to soften the shell somewhat, but how you can do this in a mechanised/automated fashion, I don't really know. BTW.         Typically they are roasted with the (brown) shell, the core shrinks and is easy to pick out then. (You not talking about the spiky cover, aren't you???)

          Buy a tin of peeled ones. Or you could play chestnut roulette after roasting a couple of trays full. Ryan

                      I seem to remember either - a) cut a cross in the bottom, and roast them b) boil them c) cut a cross in the bottom and then boil them. or a mixture of those options. :-D Cheers, Barry

                              no, i'm talking about the brown shell. i saw a picture with a bowl full of pealed raw chest nuts and was wondering how they did it :) i was looking for an industrial solution, i dont have the nerve to peal them one by one X| --------------- Horatiu CRISTEA
