I think the cash value is only 320 million and after fed and state taxes, you may get only 195 million. So yeah, I'd say go for it.

I'm guessing the odds of winning are about the same as the odds of them accidentally sending me the check... so why bother buying a ticket?

I usually buy it because it gives me more of a realistic feeling when I fantasize about spending my millions. If I don't buy it, the suspension of disbelief needed overrides the pleasure I get from fooling my brain into actually thinking that I am super rich.

Yup, 22 people - that increases our odds of winning from infinitesimal to slightly, vaguely, mostly improbable. :)

I think this is one of the most realistic (and primary) reasons that I have heard on why people buy lottery tickets (knowing they will most like not win). More or less, I have the same feeling about it. Now my brother made a big mistake year's ago. He plays the same numbers, and has for years. He "has" to buy a ticket now, because if his winning numbers came up, and he didn't play, he said he would have to dance in on-coming rush hour traffic. yikes!

What the heck would I do with that much money? Just give me a million, I'll be fine.

You could donate the rest of it to various charities around the world. Or even start your own charity. There are places where children younger than 5 don't get 200 calories a day.

Imagine how much money charities would have if, instead of spending the money to buy a lottery ticket, they just gave it straight to their favorite charity. There would be no taxes involved, either.
