Just gave my two week notice to my current employer, having accepted an opportunity: * 20 minutes closer to home and no highway driving * No cubicles, large open space with private offices if one needs peace and quiet * Lovely natural lighting! * Compared to where I "was", progressive software development (SCRUM, Jenkins / CI, JIRA) * Will be learning some new tech: TypeScript and Angular (hmmmm....) * Stock options * Excellent medical * "Real" development machine (not the 8GB i5 with spinny disk saddled with security bloatware and tiny monitors) * Seems like a really great team, and an interesting product: [Software Consulting Associates](https://www.municitysoftware.com/) Etc. I will NOT miss where I've been working for the past two years. I have appreciated the employment, but little else.

Good luck! I have recently changed workplace. As of now only the pay is better, all the rest took a step downhill. It may be the customer though, it is widely known in Italy to be a handful...

Get some good headphone for the large open space. When is the pendulum going to swing back to cubicles with 5 foot walls?

Congratulations. I am fast approaching six months on my new job and hadn't realized how far behind the cutting edge my old job was. We are now using TypeScript, MVC, Razor and all kinds of tech we didn't use at my last place; not necessarily the latest, greatest but a big jump forward. Going from jQuery v1 to jQuery v3 is a major improvement by itself. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my old job, especially the people I worked with. However, since the best of them came with me to my new job I don't have to miss working with them! PS. I also get paid more for less hours!

              - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

I'd be really happy with 6 foot walls but would take 5. Heck, I'd even take 4 foot walls over the rolling table management has called a "desk" with a straight face.
