The only one? Surely you did not mean that.

It is the one fruit grown widely in cold climes. Very widely. Of course there are pears, probably the second most common fruit. Then the wild fruit, blackberries, etc. But you are ignoring the main point of what I said, intentionally of course. Many more species of fruit grow only in the tropics.

Nope, just adding clarification to a point. Not everything has to be an argument, does it?

No part. You acted like it was an insane statement. Even your quote said it was once true but not as much today. And of course since you found it on the internet it must be true. And my experience of actually doing it must mean nothing.

Yes, many fruits grow in the tropics. That doesn't change my initial point that less cold will mean less fruits. Who's ignoring the main point?

You forgot winter wheat by the way. But we only plant those varietes because it is cold, if it wasnt cold, we wouldnt.

Now who is making it an argument! :) You ignored my point about fruit being, in general, a tropical plant. Which it is of course, despite the few species that grow in colder climes. Which allied to my link about apples being grown in Africa, means that your statement 'less cold = less fruit' is clearly wrong. We dont need cold to produce fruit. What we need is warmth mostly, and even those that do like the cold we can replace with ones that dont care. Now if YOU have issues with some species of apple growing in your garden because winters arent as cold as they are, ask yourself where this species of apple came from, why was it engineered, and for what conditions. And yes, all food produce has been genetically engineered for centuries, if not millennia.

Right, so you are now saying 'some' whereas you first stated 'Fruit trees need a certain amount of cold time to produce fruit well', implying all fruit trees need a cold period. However it is limited to fruit such as apples, pears and plums is it not? And as pointed out varieties of these exist that dont need cold, thus rendering your statement even less valid. The fact is that only some types of certain fruit species need cold.

What concerns me about climate change, regardless of what you believe to be true or not or it being natural or man-made, is that the focus on carbon dioxide has caused a blind eye to what we do know to be major problems. Back in the 70's, there was a huge push toward littering and dumping of chemicals into our drinking water and oceans. Now, they have taken a back seat. Plastic islands are forming in the pacific, chemicals are still being dumped into the rivers and streams, factories still pump toxins into the atmosphere, and there is still the deforestation of the rain forests in the Amazon. I believe it would be much better if we spent our money and resources solving the problems we can immediately do something about, but I guess there isn't any money in that.

When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others. Same thing when you are stupid.

Yes, that is what I read your statement as saying. :) OK, we we have two examples of how cold is bad for life. Now, how many examples of how less cold is better for life. Take fruit damaged by frost. And that is a lot of fruit. Not to mention all kinds of vegetables. Then the shorter growing season caused by cold. Not to mention the greater number of human deaths that occur when it is cold. It is clear the benefits of less cold outweigh the losses.

Yeah, I am 100% with you on this. This obsession with CO2 has actually damaged the environment by letting real pollutants go unchecked. Electronics recycling is a particular issue. Plastics. The filth we dump in the Baltic sea, then turn the resulting toxic eels into salmon food, and then eat.

Yup. What really shocks me is how we are poisoning ourselves everyday and not realizing it. Besides the pollutants, we eat, drink, bathe, and wear toxic chemicals. I watched a really good documentary on this called Stink. The number of carcinogens we take into our body from things we buy is absolutely horrifying. I'm really beginning to wonder if part of the climate change agenda is really to distract away from these other issues. "OMG! The polar ice caps are going to melt and kill everyone in 100 years!" all the while, we are committing ignorant suicide with the products we buy and the trash we dump.
