order food again from the same restaurant ? Yesterday we ordered a Thai food from our usual takeaway place for dinner. Nothing fancy, it was a fried rice and stir fry. I finished my portion and wife almost finished her when she noticed cockroach in her plate. I email the restaurant with picture and telling them what happened. At least I wanted to let them know. I didn't think they will call back but today morning I got a call from the owner and he was really apologetic about it. He offered us a dinner on the restaurant. Now question is should I go back to the same place ?

Pappa John's Pizza says in it's UK adverts "if you don't love your pizza, let us know and we'll deliver you another one!" - I didn't like it, so you'll deliver another one for me not to like?

No. I do not believe they will clean the kitchen just for me - they will remove the cockroach(es) for sure from my next plate with extra care, but that does not make the food more enjoyable to me... I would think all the way about those cockroaches...

Lots of protein and no fat?

Sometimes it happens - in a fancy Parisienne bistrot (in Paris) we happened to find a worm in the salad. We notified the waiter who then changed the plate with a new one and discounted it. It didn't happen again the other times we ate there. Sometimes s*** happens... I would be very wary though about cockroaches because rarely there is only one.

Do consider that most veggies, fruits and starches grow outside, where rats can piss on it; a few bugs will be milled along the grains into flour, and a few rathairs might be in there as well.

I thought you had a cat under your house! They love to snack on protein, especially if it's easy to catch. But not too easy, or it's no fun.

I email the restaurant with picture and telling them what happened. At least I wanted to let them know. I didn't think they will call back but today morning I got a call from the owner and he was really apologetic about it. He offered us a dinner on the restaurant. Now question is should I go back to the same place ?

I've been thinking about this and still can't decide. One thing's for sure, it's a way better question than the one for the current Straw Poll - can we have it for the next one?

Do consider that most veggies, fruits and starches grow outside, where rats can piss on it; a few bugs will be milled along the grains into flour, and a few rathairs might be in there as well.

I used to work for the Department of Agriculture as a chemist. One of our jobs were to analyze food products off the shelves of supermarkets. We had limits as to how many bug parts and fecal matter was allowed in cereals and breads. We also had limits on how much urine and other contaminates to be allowed in products like milk and juices. After working there for a year, I taught myself to not even think about it. Finding a cockroach after you have eaten the meal makes you wonder how many cockroaches have you consumed. X|

Anyone who works with food would know; whenever I picked something from the garden it would be washed, and no matter how good you wash it, there's always a chance that you miss something. I remember how cow-shit was thrown on the carrots to make them grow better. A month later we'd pull a carrot out, wipe it with our clothes, and eat it on the spot :)
