Lots of protein and no fat?

Do consider that most veggies, fruits and starches grow outside, where rats can piss on it; a few bugs will be milled along the grains into flour, and a few rathairs might be in there as well.

I thought you had a cat under your house! They love to snack on protein, especially if it's easy to catch. But not too easy, or it's no fun.

order food again from the same restaurant ? Yesterday we ordered a Thai food from our usual takeaway place for dinner. Nothing fancy, it was a fried rice and stir fry. I finished my portion and wife almost finished her when she noticed cockroach in her plate. I email the restaurant with picture and telling them what happened. At least I wanted to let them know. I didn't think they will call back but today morning I got a call from the owner and he was really apologetic about it. He offered us a dinner on the restaurant. Now question is should I go back to the same place ?

I've been thinking about this and still can't decide. One thing's for sure, it's a way better question than the one for the current Straw Poll - can we have it for the next one?

I used to work for the Department of Agriculture as a chemist. One of our jobs were to analyze food products off the shelves of supermarkets. We had limits as to how many bug parts and fecal matter was allowed in cereals and breads. We also had limits on how much urine and other contaminates to be allowed in products like milk and juices. After working there for a year, I taught myself to not even think about it. Finding a cockroach after you have eaten the meal makes you wonder how many cockroaches have you consumed. X|

Anyone who works with food would know; whenever I picked something from the garden it would be washed, and no matter how good you wash it, there's always a chance that you miss something. I remember how cow-shit was thrown on the carrots to make them grow better. A month later we'd pull a carrot out, wipe it with our clothes, and eat it on the spot :)

It would be unsanitary to give tours to all customers in the kitchen and have their dirty paws touching everything, of course; some may entertain you, some won't. We like to show our workplace and talk about computers. A proud owner and a proud cook will do the same, if you ask a bit polite and during not-too-busy hours.

We had a similar experience on a first trip to a restaurant at lunch. The owner waived the bill for all four of us, even though only 1 dish was affected. We declined the offer of free dessert; we never went back. The General Tso/Tao chicken was also the worst we have ever had. Theory: A live roach would never be cooked. The roach eats some poison and then makes it into the vegetables/rice/etc where it dies. This poisoned roach is then cooked into your meal. Question: How much of the roach poison ends up in your food?

order food again from the same restaurant ? Yesterday we ordered a Thai food from our usual takeaway place for dinner. Nothing fancy, it was a fried rice and stir fry. I finished my portion and wife almost finished her when she noticed cockroach in her plate. I email the restaurant with picture and telling them what happened. At least I wanted to let them know. I didn't think they will call back but today morning I got a call from the owner and he was really apologetic about it. He offered us a dinner on the restaurant. Now question is should I go back to the same place ?

That depends. Was the cockroach from your place, or theirs? ;P Money makes the world go round ... but documentation moves the money.
