Original Mac Calculator Vs Win10 Calc

Social Media - A platform that makes it easier for the crazies to find each other. Everyone is born right handed. Only the strongest overcome it. Fight for left-handed rights and hand equality.
Now don't be so shocked. What you think of their products or their quality is a thing we could probably discuss to no end, but their behavior is not excusable. They grin and say 'take it or leave it'. If they put it that way, then I always leave it.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats. His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

Their behavior has never messed me up. Again, why are you doing everything wrong?

Have you ever read Milton? :-) There alwys are those who can't live in a nice walled garden in a happy and dumb herd.

The error here lies in thinking anything from Microsoft is "designed"; traditionally, Microsoft applications have started as a programmer copying the functionality he has seen on another system. That application is then morphed by the alterations of other programmers, willy-nilly, for better or worse, over time.

That's the Industry Standard!

The worst thing about it is the presence of an equals key. That means it's not RPN...

I had no idea what RPN was. I looked it up and found Reverse Polish Notation and now I'm reading all about it on wikipedia. Very interesting. Thanks.
I had HP calculators in college, so, I'm hooked. RPN uses a stack and post-fix operation. That means in stead of 3 + 5, you have 3 5 +. The former, called infix, is what typical calculators, the ones with an equals button, use. The really nifty thing about RPN is that you can do complicated equations without having to keep track of how many left and right parentheses you've typed in as you would with a typical calculator. This link https://www.cs.colostate.edu/~cs165/.Summer18/recitations/L15/doc/traversal-order.html seems to explain it pretty quickly. Probably more clearly than I am. :)

You are not? Then how do you get out of bed every morning and get the confidence to do whatever needs to be done?

Of course not.

Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing.

Exactly as I thought. You are a good sheep and would never want the herd to think anything else. God forbid!

At least you know that, so there is still some hope for you. The next step could be to tell them apart. But be careful: The herd may see you as a black sheep once you do and may, lacking any arguments, try to shame you back into the herd. They might even accuse you of arrogance, just for having the audacity to do your own thing.

Either you're trolling or you are stupidly narrow minded. I vote trolling. Good day.

Said the troll himself. Just accusations and a little shaming. Good day to you too, Mr. CEO, and come back when you have some arguments.

This has inspired me. My company policy does not allow me to install any third party software not passed by the security group - a process that takes months. However, since I am allowed to run self-written programs, I going to write my own WinForm version with all the functions I want on it, none that I don't, and styled the way I want it!

I wrote a simple clock, and got the calculator going, modeled after Steve Jobs' design from the calculator construction set.
That leads me to search for : steve jobs calculator construction set And that leads me to this article: Steve Jobs Designed The First Macintosh Calculator - Business Insider[^] There is a picture of the original Mac Calculator. I took a snapshot for you : https://i.stack.imgur.com/3fmWs.png[^] Compare that to the Win10 calculator: https://i.stack.imgur.com/BnYlb.png[^] It's interesting to see the similarities and differences since they were designed so many years apart. I think I like the old design because it reminds me of old 8-bit games.

So were my first several OSes. Nevertheless, I agree with the sentiment in this thread that the calculator that shipped with Windows XP may be the best looking calculator. In contrast, the one that shipped with Windows 10 looks like a first grader drew the wireframe and the developer slavishly followed it. While I understand the objective of making it better suited to a touch interface, IMO, it should be sufficiently smart to figure out that my machine has no touch controls, and render a more compact window. As it is, the touch-aware calculator occupies more than its fair share of screen real estate. In spite of all its new modes, I still use only the original three (Basic, Scientific, and Programmer), and am annoyed from time to time that it lacks a critical fourth, Financial. Thankfully, I can coax what I need from Excel, but why must I load a full-fledged productivity application to perform a simple calculation, such as, e. g., compute the interest on a mortgage?
