https://codeblog.jonskeet.uk/2019/06/30/versioning-limitations-in-net/comment-page-1/ discusses significant versioning issues in some detail, offering a few recommendations as a starting point. As I mentioned in the comment that I just left, semantic versioning is only one versioning issue that afflicts the Microsoft.NET ecosystem. The timing couldn't have been better, since I had just yesterday encountered and resolved the simplest case of the Diamond Dependency discussed therein. Resolving that diamond dependency was greatly aided by my discovery of AsmSpy, about which I wrote yesterday.

Why do you insist on posting these messages in the Soapbox? Please move to one of the technical forums.

Third time, stop putting these in the Soapbox. Wrong forum.

Thank you for your private message (not sure what your point was). May I refer you to the preface at the top of this page.

Here is the opening sentence of the forum rules, "The Soapbox allows you to stand up and have a rant, tell a bad joke, complain about someone or post stuff that that may not be appropriate for reading at work and/or isn't strictly IT industry related." Now, explain which one of those applies to your post? 1. Is it a rant? 2. A bad joke? 3. Complaining about someone? 4. Not appropriate for work? 5. Isn't IT related? We await your explanation.

It also says: The SoapBox is not for flame wars, personal vendettas, or for grinding your axe. Trolling will not be tolerated. Anything inappropriate for this forum will be deleted immediately. And there are days...  ;P ;P   And yes... I do think too, that the posts could go to the lounge or one of the technical forums (already suggested the free tools the other day)

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I didn't take a vendetta... I was just being a bit picky (or maybe being a little jerk... who knows) ;P
