The only issue I faced on my latest machine was the mouse would do this weird stuttering and hang up for a second, appeared t happen randomly. I don't know how many sites and pages I looked at trying to get to the bottom of it. I even though for a while it was certain areas on the mouse pad and the optic sensor etc. etc. In the end, I removed the Logitech Unify USB dongle and paired the mouse (Logitech MX Master 2S) via bluetooth instead and the problem appears to have now gone away.

Just for info: I had a similar problem with a unify dongle - so much so that the keyboard would freeze too. Moving to a bluetooth mouse fixed the problem. Having done a lot of reading and then experimenting, it turns out that the dongle's communication can be disrupted by WiFi signals and other Rf emissions. I relocated the dongle from the PC under the desk to a USB 3 hub that sits nearer to the keyboard and mouse than any other device that uses radio etc, and now it works fine.

Two of my users regularly still get BSODs. I do know exactly why though for these two machines. Whenever M$ update their handling of graphic devices, the vendor provided drivers for the graphic devices on these two (out of 20 odd physical machines) shut down and bang BSOD. Of course, what we see on the screen gives absolutely no clue that this is the reason, just learnt the hard way. Management asked me if we could invoice M$ for the several hundred hours of research I had to do to find the issue and document it sufficiently that someone else can recover these machines if I am not on-site. I suggested that this would only cause amusement in the the house of small soft things.
Good finding man! :thumbsup: This is so tricky.. :/ That's one of the reason I like mainstream hardware ... i.e. Intel (apparently AMD might be a good bet now) and NVidia...

I've ranted a bit before about Microsoft's pathetic excuse for an operating system. Window's only achievement is through marketing and "it's good enough." My customers do not and will not tolerate their machines crashing for inexplicable reasons... my assessment of Windows 10 on a good day is marginal, on an average day pathetic, and on a bad day - criminal. I'm being generous. For 25 years I've put up with "it must be a driver" bullchips, and as a professional by now MS should have fixed their exposure to this issue - practice safe drivers. Anyway, I rant and I want peace on earth and free healthcare for all.... Google "BSOD diagnosis" and you will get a pant load of sites that are nothing more than shills for "magic" s/w that does absolutely nothing. The next major category is anything beginning with "answers.microsoft... " I actually can hope that most of the posts are AI driven, but I'm not sure. So for those of you who get into the muck to solve or at least accurately identify Windows 10 system issues - what are your preferred sites? What sites eat raw bits and crap ammo when they are done? tomshardware can have some traction from time to time.... crap, I feel an article forming.

The company IT force upgraded the 7 year computer I was working on from 7 to 10, with zero checks why no indicators ever showed suggesting to upgrade. Came into work to work one day and "oh, oh! Why is the desktop different. Win 10 upgrade." Check VS and critical daily tools still worked. Cool. Enable dual screen strecth. Odd - not finding 2nd monitor. Odd - not finding graphics card. Install radeon driver update - crash. but not BSOD crash. Windows very kindly rolled the change back to using default windows graphics driver without completely falling over. Issue - dell motherboard driver + some releated graphics driver is not supported for windows 10. And even better is windows detected such a thing and never prompted to upgrade knowing that the hardware was not supported. Months go buy, zero mention why I'm not using the 2nd monitor. There was mentions ages ago that all old hardware would be replaced. Even filled out spreadsheet with computer details indicating serial number and model type which 10 second search would indicate age and if Win 10 supported, and said spreadsheet was used to remotely identify my computer for upgrading. Suffice to say I started looking up articles on why devs and IT do not get along, wanted to find something regarding how a number of Devs write the software IT use and actually end up with a bunch of knowledge to get their work done which they know why not ... blah ... blah ... blah.

I am on Windows 7... AKA The Last Stable Build of Windows. I don't have those problems. And I wont switch until Microsoft stabilizes Windows 10. What a gawd awful excuse for an operating system.

I'd like to bounce some code-in-the-grammar ideas off of you at some point. I have an idea that may allow for associated code without it having to be in the grammar, using attributes and a "codebehind" class but i'd like a 2nd opinion. Just whenever.
When I was growin' up, I was the smartest kid I knew. Maybe that was just because I didn't know that many kids. All I know is now I feel the opposite.

Exactly. Unless dealing with faulty hardware or bad drivers, it's literally been years I've seen a BSOD that the OS could be blamed for. Dare I say, these days I don't see Windows outright crashing/freezing any more frequently than some Linux distributions...
+1 to the no BSOD club here. I haven't had any at all in Win10, and I code in VS2019 Pro (Knocking on some serious wood here). 2 years ago, I did have a workstation class motherboard die on me. Likely was around then was the last time I've seen a BSOD in Win7. Drivers can cause this as well. But I tend to buy quality hardware that seldom suffer those issues.

I've been building industrial control systems for a good 20 years now, and all based on the windows platform (okay some embedded stuff out there too), and other than hard disk or power supply failure the systems have been rock solid. I still have some XP machines out there just chugging away, and no one want's to upgrade them, if they are still working. some machines have user interaction, others don't, I've got one machine (at least) out there that hasn't been restarted in close to 10 years, still ticking away with no issues. honestly the only real troubles I've had were do to system admins and IT people mucking about "tweaking" a system, then i get called out, put everything back the way it was, then they tweak it again, so i get called out again.... STOP TOUCHING THE #### COMPUTER!!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! I've had control system's running on every version of windows since XP, the only true reason of the stability is: no windows updates can be installed, because there is no internet at these facilities :)
