Deforestation in the Amazon

Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon has been trending upward since bottoming out in 2012
If you choose an outlier then you can always find a trend you want. You can also say it is down since 2016, but the fact is it is relatively flat after its massive decline in the early 2000s. You people, really, you are so laughable.

What about this? [Amazon deforestation at highest level in 10 years, says Brazil](https://news.mongabay.com/2018/11/amazon-deforestation-at-highest-level-in-10-years-says-brazil/)

No, because I am looking at the big picture.

You said it is declining since 2000. I post from same website stating it is increasing since 2000 which you agree. What is your point?

Amazon deforestation at highest level in 10 years, says Brazil[^] Early 2000s, about 20,000 sq km a year, last few years about 7,000. That is about a third. I am sure you see the point, you would have to be thick as shit to not see it of course.

So all the usual types are virtue signalling over this, the celebs, Macron, and the media all over it with the usual climate change stuff (actually mature trees dont absorb carbon, they have stopped growing, but hey, dont confuse the fear with facts eh?). As it turns out deforestation has decline massively since 2000: https://imgs.mongabay.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2015/05/03204742/amazon-deforestation-brazil-1988-present.png[^] this is 1988 to 2017, the big drop starting around 2000 Alot of the images I have seen have been of fields burning too, not forest. Like this one, In Bolsonaro’s Brazil, a Showdown Over Amazon Rainforest[^] balled as 'forest on fire' when it isnt, it is actually grass burning, or old crops. We do this in the UK too every year. Another fact that the enviros hate is that the Amazon was until a few centuries ago home to many millions. Deforestation has exposed old towns and villages: Video: Lost cities of the Amazon | People of One Fire[^] Some are saying it was 'highly urbanised', and a significant proportion was savanna. Of course we are being told that todays minimal change, and much less than in the past, is a disaster, a tipping point. It is the same old thing, over and over again, lies BS spin and crap, being rammed down our throats by the media, corrupt scientists, and agenda driven politicians.

From here: Third graphic down[^] Deforestation is a third what it was pre 2003.

You see, such simplistic logic. I didnt expect much different to be honest, this being a programmers site. No, my post was about perspective. Deforestation is massively reduced, the vast majority of oxygen comes from plankton, and the amazon was substantially grassland a few centuries ago, and inhabited by many millions of people. Just hold those thoughts in mind when you see the hysteria on the TV, OK.

Yes, the third image down, I explained the date range (which you can just about see in black, though it isnt easy).
