And to get you started on your bridge: Captain Kirk's Chair[^] PS. Also my choice. PPS. I wonder if you could 3d print one of these chairs?

Hmmm, probably, though having never played with 3D printers, I am not qualified to speak on such matters. ;)

I certainly wouldn't want any of the bridges from movies or television. All of the explosions, sparks flying, smoke billowing, and Captains gettin' jiggy with the aliens would be too distracting to get any work done. Hmm. I've got it. I would like the bridge of Lazarus Long's Dora.

I guess it's a good thing then that we don't do unit tests. :~

Why should it be constrained to looking like anything at all? With the the tech they use for the replicators, transporters, and holodecks, the whole thing could be fluid, changing configuration as required by circumstance (e.g. by adding handrails during battles, to stop everyone getting tossed around so much on shockwaves that can't happen in space).  Why walk over to the science station, when it can be right in front of you when you need it? In fact, the whole ship should be generated -- which would also be handy in battles, as it would be all-but indestructible (and would also provide an inherent low-speed navigation system, which would be even more useful in battles, which apparently will always be conducted at extremely low speeds). That's the problem with most people who call themselves sci-fi writers: they add tech to meet very specific needs in a story or two, but rarely give any consideration to how it will affect everything else.

The Millenium Falcon - so that I can fly over Disney headquarters drawing in some imperial star destroyers, preferably while the cast of The Rise Of Skywalker are present. Another movie I walked out of half way through...

But which version of the "bridge"? The white one with the round things? The dark wood one that Tom rocked for a while? The man-cave that Sylvester had in the movie? Or one of the modern versions?

Yes! I would love to have one of those inertia dampening couches and especially the automated drug administering devices for when someone changes the deliverable target a week before beta!!
