Only took 21 months; but they fixed the :elephant:ing bug I found with EF Core and SQLite. https://github.com/dotnet/efcore/issues/11961[^] It was a solid year and a half after the project in question ended; but is still a nice end to an otherwise bleh week. This

 Dan ... MS should pay you for that: an initial sum, plus interest for every month the issue is not fixed, or, resolved in a matter satisfactory to the dev who reported it.

Isn't it open source? Could have fixed it yourself ;)

So, now the question is, what did they break in the process of fixing it?

I was going to say that, but I look through the replies to make sure I'm not repeating someone else's brilliantly witty reply! :-D

I'd bet that most devs who complain about Microsoft's bugs would feel different if their own customers complained about their bugs the same way they complain about Microsoft's.

When my customers complain about a bug it doesn't take years to get fixed. :-\

And when you have as many products and customers as Microsoft has then you might have some understanding as well. ;) I'm not defending them nor offending you. I just find it interesting that lots of devs hold Microsoft to a much higher level than they hold themselves, or at least that is how it appears.

Exactly my same thought. If you are using an Open Source software and find a bug, go fix it and open a pull request to contribute back.

I was working under VM on an IBM mainframe and found an error in a feature of one of the system utilities. I reported same to IBM and got the IBM solution a mere six weeks later! Before you get to thinking of that as fairly impressive, the solution was a new page for the manual saying that feature was no longer supported! Note: Back then the manuals were actually printed on real paper neatly organised in a set of ring binders. Ah, the good old days.

                    - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.
