After six years of trying to explain C++ development, I think she's given up asking what i do for a living. When her friends ask her what I do, she just says, "You, know. He plays with computers." Barry Etter

When I got married I was working for a bank. So my mother-in-law got lot of questions about me. Why a guy from India working in a bank in US? In her view, job in a bank means Tellers job only... Later I explained her that I work in the IT department, it's huge project..blah..blah...but for 3 or 4 years she didn't believed my story... :-O After that gig I moved to Telecom companies, and again the questions started pouring. What kinda of job I do in cellphone company..Do I sell phone...Do I repair phones....blah..blah..... X|

It's a great test - if you love someone enough to put up with their parents, the marraige has a good chance :)

Well my dad is a programmer, so he understands. And my mom understands what I do by knowing that I do the same thing her husband does. But then again I don't exactly know what my mom does. She is in sales, for a clearing and forwarding company. Just what does someone like that do? She gets to play breakfast and weekend golf with clients, have lunch with clients, visit their offices and then have dinner with clients. All in all though it does not matter. So long as your mom, son, dad, daughter, sister and pet arachnid are happy in what they do, then so should you be. Oh, and proud folks are great to have :-D

My father was very confused about what I did and where I traveled...I attended a California State College that used computers...but he mixed it all up and told people that I had designed all of the computers that the State Colleges used!!! X| When I went to Saudi Arabia to do a system installation back in the late 1970s he confused Saudi Arabia with Iran and thought I was being held hostage. He even called the Iranian embassy to inquiry about my status. :omg: I constantly get calls and e-mails from people that indirectly know me asking for help to repair their (broken) computers. Sorry, I do software not hardware ;P Steve
