Hololense is / was x86 with Windows 10, multiple cameras, speakers, Bluetooth, One Drive, etc. I don't know why MS doesn't / can't just build an x86 phone.

You've answered my question in another way: no one apparently is using HTML5 for Windows "app" development (which is what caught my attention in the first place back then). Whether that means a desktop app that can run in a browser, I don't know. Seems I don't need to know.

Never say never: I might be the odd man out but I've been doing that for a number of years now. After getting tired of MS changing their UI tools I decided to stick with a browser and HTML. My apps include a tiny server, leave all the formatting issues to to browser and use JSON for communication between the two. With a few tricks, I manage to pack everything in one exe file and tell my customers to do installation in DOS fashion: you copy the file somewhere an run it. Do you remember those days?

Oh! Apologies my bad then. If your query was related to Windows App, no have not used HTML5 in windows app. I see WPF (XAML) being set as standard for any windows app in our organisation. Myself too is more comfortable with WPF app and don't even think of HTML5 in the mix.

Just because you asked: ?[^] That was five years ago ... which doesn't mean you still don't need the question answered ... I still need to know. (I turned to XAML because of it's WPF relationship and the fact that animating in FLASH was rumored to be childish and bad-habit-forming ,,, HTML5 seems to be some side-effect of secure HTTP web page development and who cares about such things as they neither can nor ever will be able to have effect there on.)

Also, (I mention this a lot) in 2002 I was running a PocketPC (from Dell) that I could use to edit MS-Word documents on and read ebooks. I loved that thing. I used it for 10 years and it worked great (no updates were fine). Anyways, at that same time another dev I was working with bought a phone that ran PocketPC 2002 and he used it every day. Apple didn't release their smart phone until 2007. MS was 5 years ahead and gave up!! :|

BCP is for machine consumption, not human / pretty printing. That's what Reporting Services is for.

IMO HTML5 is great, it makes life easier. XAML is clunky and illogical by comparison to HTML. I only use it because I have to support legacy projects. XAML is one of those technologies where Microsoft seemed to pointlessly re-invent the wheel, but as a square.

WPF is good, but he forgets to mention the most important point: HTML5 = platform independent. Plus rollout to live environments is so much easier. The only platform that is not 100% ready for HTML5 is mobile, but WPF is not mobile either.
