Man, the Arduino forums though (forums.arduino.cc not here)

So I posted a question about getting garbage on my serial port on my Arduino after uploading my JSON library to it. I mentioned that it worked on my 64-bit desktop but wasn't working on my 8-bit mega. And then a moderator basically told me that's not true, and if I was able to write code that would do that I wouldn't be on the forum asking for help in the first place. When I confronted him about accusing me of lying he denied it. These forums are rude. This isn't the first time I've seen a sour exchange on there, but it's the first time one was directed at me. My 2nd question. If you're volunteering your time to be a moderator and you don't like doing it, you should stop. If you're volunteering your time to be a moderator because you like berating people who ask questions of the forum there's something deeper going on.

Asshats live everywhere - ignore 'em and just move on. If the visitor count falls away to nothing because the moderators are rude the site will wise up and sack 'em, or it'll close. Either way, you'll probably end up with a better one rising from the ashes. I'm pretty surprised that hasn't happened to SO yet ...

What's funny, is I've actually gotten really good results from SO. I've only ever had one question downvoted, and about 75% of the responses were helpful and courteous. I understand they have a bad rep, and it's probably earned, but I guess I've been fortunate.

Ask Chris for an Arduino forum here - you can ask whatever you want there... and answer it politely... :laugh:

To be fair, "The Arduino forums" means nothing to me and I wondered the same thing, if this was one of the many forums here on CP. CP has the Lounge, obviously, the Quick Answers section and then many different forums on the left hand side. Although I don't recall seeing an Arduino forum here on CP but that doesn't mean much.

You could have answered him: Only because I am better programmer than you will ever imagine in your more obscure and wet dreams, it doesn't mean that I know everything about the Arduino world. There is a difference between not being familiar with the Arduino and not being able to program crazy things that work.

There is none... at least not officially listed. Discussion Boards[^] There is an article section though. Internet of things --> Arduino

I don't have a STM32 chip but I have an ESP32 I ran it on first. The code survived. :)

I have a ton of little IoT SoCs but none with a 16-bit CPU. I wonder if such an animal exists? It would be fun to compile this for a little 65c816 though (the 16-bit CPU in the Apple IIgs and the Super Nintendo)

You could have answered him: Only because I am better programmer than you will ever imagine in your more obscure and wet dreams, it doesn't mean that I know everything about the Arduino world. There is a difference between not being familiar with the Arduino and not being able to program crazy things that work.

Looking at what you were told... I suppose not much. Because one doesn't need to be Einstein to see the difference between being able to program and asking a question in an online forum about something you are not that sure and want help or confirmation.
